perhaps the rears that would have been fitted on a Boxster. I think you could probably get 9" rears from a 987 and use those for fronts?

According to Wheel Enhancement the Carrera IIIs are only available in 8, 10, and 11. Would need a width and offset chart of the available wheels to see what has a 9 with the correct offsets that also has a 10 or 11 for the rear.

Fikses are overrated and don't let anyone tell you any different.

With 255s on the front I get a little rubbing at full lock and a slight bump, but my fenders are not rolled (going to fix that soon). And I have to agree, with big rubber the handling is tremendous, night at day difference. It will never have the agility of my Mini, but on a big sweeping road maintaining 60-90mph is so easy and just fantastic.

Oh, I don't think they are overrated, just expensive. I would love to have a set on my 928, but $4k is better spent towards 500 rwhp to me!!

But if I could have an excellent set of used Fikses FM10's AND tires fall into my lap like you did Mark, I would be a nut for not buying them.

You have good taste! This is the exact same setup I have. I bought mine from wheeldynamics.net. Great price!

I have 225s on the front but was thinking of running 235s on the next set of tires.

Ditto.

Have them on both of mine and can not find a single fault with them. It's nice when you get what you pay for!

First let me state that my comment was not directed specifically at you but at the general "928 forum ether"

In that case you don't qualify as a target for my comment; if you bought a set of tires and got a nice set of wheels thrown in for free then that sure as heck isn't "big money." I did the same thing last year and got a 'free' set of '93 GTS wheels with RDK.

And yes, I do like how they look.
Wheels you like are a must. Wheels you like that make the car stick are better I think.

I am not the best person to ask about offsets. I just threw some money at the problem and called up Dave Roberts at 928 Specialists about 10 years ago and asked "what are the biggest tires I can put under my GT with NO rubbing EVER and no sticking-out-the-fender syndrome and what Fikse Mach Vs do I need."

So, that problem is far in my past. However, a good place to start is the FAQ and the hundreds of threads that have "offset" in the title.

Next, Andrew's wheel offset calculator.

will help you figure out if a particular wheel may fit.

From what I have seen fly by on rennlist, you will be hard-pressed to fine a 17" or larger reasonably light (20" Cayenne Wheels need not apply) OEM Porsche wheel with the right width and offset to run 255 or 265 in the front. I could very well be incorrect though. That said, you can run up to a 5mm slip-on spacer on the front to give you a wider ranger of usable offsets.

The easiest and likely most expensive option is to go with a made-to-order wheel from the likes of Fikse, HRE, CCW, etc. You'll note that a lot of the folks that want big meats on the track and can afford it go for forged wheels for low-weight and strength. The Fikses meet those requirements plus they are three-piece and have the bolts on the inside so that are way easier to clean than traditional bolt-on-the-outside three-piece wheels.

IIRC, a set of 17"x9" and 10" Fikses will set you back about $2800 plus the cost of the meat for them. 18" Fikses are about $1000 more I think. But, Sterling's the only one I know that can afford them new . 928andRC51 got a set of custom one-piece 18" forged wheels for less about $2000 from CCW. I don't have any clue on HRE wheels except that they are more expensive than Fikse.

I'd go with the one-piece forged CCW's that 928andRC51 got custom made, would be hard to beat that set up in terms of both looks and track performance potential, especially w/o paying crazy money.

I spent $2600 for wheels custom made to my specs and $900 on tires. That was about $3600 for wheels and tires for a 100+k mile S4. These are pretty trick wheels, forged 1 piece clear anodized, and light under 20 lbs avg and strong. And they machined the center to accept my factory center caps from the forged flat wheels.

You have a beautiful GTS that is worth much more $$$, so don't be too frugal in picking out a wheel set ESPECIALLY when track ability depends on how much rubber you can put on the pavement.
