Ha ha ah, the stock wheels picture is fresh off the truck and on the shade side of the car. The new pic is sunny side and after a little of Mother's QuickShine. Thinking seriously of doing the Zaino Bros thing to the car.

I got the Carrera III's from Cory Jump at Planet 9 Eleven in Edmond. Looks like his web site is down so, 405.330.9116
Cory is sometimes difficult to get a hold of, very busy guy. Took 3 days for him to get back with me, but it was worth it!

IMHO you'll lose a great deal of the metalic paints color with highly reflective synthetics like Zaino. Skip the Zaino unless you really need the protection or you like your paint highly reflective.

Try Meguiars #26 or S100 Carnauba. Seeing as the car was probably prepped and polished by the dealer a very basic hand polish like S100 Shine Enhancing Paint Cleanser or Meguiars #9 should keep it looking perfect.

Really love that color and your car!

So what's next on the mods list, an X-Pipe?

Got it, thanks. What are your plans for the Cup 2's?

Afshin, The reason I like Zaino is the gloss lasts so long. Everything else I've tried seems to only last a month, a couple of days in the hot sun, or just till the next car wash. So, what works best to keep it looking the best the longest?

Next...Brakes are squealing for attention. Want to see how the new meat does at the next Autocross before going on the pipe.

Jarrod, probably just stack them in the garage to keep with the car as has original wheels. Might be good candidates for winter rubber.

Makes sense. Sounds like you have already used used Zaino and know how it works. Have you tried Meguiars NXT Tech? I've heard good things about longevity for the 2.0 version and I know that it provides a deeper finish.

I've never tried the Turtle Wax Ice so I can't really comment on it. If it's easy to use, looks good and lasts long enough then you can't complain. I personally don't seek out longevity since my car is in the garage, doesn't sit in the sun very long and never sees rain. I personally look for appearance first followed by ease of use second. If it's a rubber protectant I look for UV protection.

Sorry for the OT

RKD- I've always been pleased with the overall shine and longevity of One Grand Blitz Wax, a carnuaba wax product. Goes on and comes off very easy, no chalky residue either. I buy mine from Larry Reynolds of Car Care Specialties www.carcareonline.com He has some good how-to write-ups on his website as well. Since your car was professionally detailed, I would think this product would be great at maintaining the shine (it needs a good base to start with, as it's not a cleaner or polish.) This has performed very well for me on my daily driver M3.

Here lately I've been using a spray-on product from Optimum called Opti-Seal. It's a clear spay-on that you don't even have to wipe off, but I do anyway. Leaves no residue. Like the Blitz Wax, it needs a good finish to start with, but gives a great shine. Nothing I've used has been easier to apply. My jury is still out on how long it lasts, as my car simply doesn't see the elements enough to put it to the test.

Let me know if you ever want to part with the Cup 2's. I'd use those rears, coupled with a pair of 993 wheels I previously mentioned for the front (17x9 ET70).

Now that the detail has some time on it swirls are starting to show up. Gonna need to spend some hands on bonding time with the GTS.

Maybe I'm just tired and grumpy after spending all day doing an emergency heart/water-pump bypass/replacement...

[Grumpy Mode]
But, I don't understand spending big money on new wheels and not putting at least a 8.5" or 9" in the front with 255s or 265s. With the right offset wheels 265s fit fine. Unless, that is, if you just want wheels that look good. And there's nothing wrong with that. But, if you want the car to eat the road for breakfast, go WIDE on the front.

The 928 was deliberately crippled from the factory for handling by putting skinny tires and wheels on the front. Look at other front-engined sports cars with near-50/50 balance and you will be hard-pressed to fine any with as little tire in the front as a 928 (on a tire/pound basis.) Put 265s all'round and the 928 is monster in the twisties.

The best money I *ever* spent on my 928s was a set of 9" and 10" Fikses running 255/265.

[/Grumpy Mode]

Ok. Sorry folks. I'll go back to my cave now and do some more timing belts...

Mr Grumpy,

I would love to put wider rims on the front, what are the offsets that let me put 265s on front?

I put these on because the wheels AND TIRES cost me the same as buying just the tires from TireRack. And yes, I do like how they look.

Fikses would cost you a boat load. I think those wheels and tires look great on your GTS. After biting off the cost of the GTS, I completely understand trying to save some bucks with an excellent set of used tires and wheels.
