Default Gold 86 at Carmax auction in Southlake, Ga.

Any dealers in the Atlanta area? Who would have thought there would be a 928 at a Carmax auction. See the last listing on the right.

edit. Now it's the last listing on the left. I guess the site is being updated.

Really not sure why you guys (not trying to pick on you here Mike...lots of folks do this) call an S body car an OB... to me Original Body means the first of the 928's sans spoilers of any kind. If you use OB for an S then you have to throw that in as a qualifier. Just stick w/ calling a car with the lip spoilers and S body car and OB for cars w/ NO SPOILERS! How hard is that? Does it not make PERFECT SENSE TOO?

No you didn't Mike.

Point of interest; the International Automotive Nicknaming Body (IANB) did meet earlier this year and it was unanimously decided that all pre S4 928's would hereafter be referred to as OB's.

Their reasoning was that only addicted and obsessive 928 owners would be able to reliably discern the intricacies of design modifications over the years and correctly identify very specific early models as the only years intended to be included in the original definition.

Case closed.

I think the no spoiler car is commonly called an OB non S model. Does that not make perfect sense also?

Anyway, it looks like a decent car from what I can see. I wonder what a car like this would go for at a dealer only auction. I remember around 20 years ago I went to a dealer auction with a friend who had a small car lot. A beautiful early style Scirocco sold for $200.00. I almost cried cause I couldn't afford to spend $20.00 at the time. I still want one of those.

Thanks. Yes, when we were neighbors. I hope our friendly moderator doesn't have a copyright.

Mike,

I don't know WHY I got off on that tangent. Sorry about that! Maybe I had just looked at another S body car and it was being referred to as an OB and I was still in that crazy a$$ mindset when I looked at your link and saw it was an S and mixed the threads.

Or, maybe I am just loosing my mind! That is probably the most likely thing!

Please accept my sincere apology! Most sorry about that...

I still think if they have spoilers they are "S" cars if no spoilers OB cars... That is the way I will always refer to them... Since I have all body styles I get to make that call. So, all posts referring to a car with "S" spoilers as an OB car will hence forth be deleted and if the offender does this more than once then they will be banned for life from Rennlist!

LOL! Just kidding...you guys lighten up...you are WAY to serious here!

Perhaps we should adopt racing parlance and refer to spoilered examples as "Dirty Old Buggers".
