Dan you have some interesting points. I must agree with you on most of them. Vehicles could display information coded by color or pattern for instant recognition by officers. Would there be abuses? Expect abuses as always. But mininal because the risk is too great. And then Darwin comes into play to sort things out.

Heinrich, we agree again. It is the cluster f**ks that endanger us so much. Endless miles of left lane trains comprised of SUV hogs all half aware of what day it is and forcing others to pass on the right or back and forth. Try this on a city sidewalk at walking speed as a pedestrian, and watch the fights that will emerge. I could make a fortune selling band aids and first aid to all the "sidewalk rage" victims. If traffic flows it is safe. If it clusters, it is dangerous as described. Uniformity. Are you the same as your neighbor? Do you want to be the same? Some airheads think uniformity will solve the problems of the universe. ****. Guess where they pick up that absurd mindset? And after they get that way, in what occupation do they settle? Hint: think donuts.

Aw, there I go again.............!!

Laws are about regulating behaviour, not applying justice nor promoting safety, except as a side effect.

Most policing is the restriction or punishment of non-conformal behaviour, regardless of its impact on society.

The only way to change these laws, is to change the law-makers.....get out & vote.

In Minnesota, your license would be administratively revoked for 1 year for the "clocking" alone (whether or not you are convected of anything). Then would come the speeding ticket, conviction and whooping big fine, rise in insurance costs, etc.

You know I got to thinking about it some more, and I think I've realized the main reason why so many drivers are such dumbasses. It's called the automatic transmission! Before, people actually had to LEARN how to drive a car because they had to learn how to handle a clutch and shift gears. This is not a trivial task. These days, you get in an automatic car and press the gas to go and the brake to stop.

That's probably the reason why they are considering setting speed limits on the autobahn in Germany. More and more people in Europe are starting to drive automatic cars.

I can relate to that... Plus they're usually even more pissed of cause you drive a porsche... hence you can afford to pay a huge fine.

Was caught at 95mph on 95S on my way to Boston... cost me $490 and 0 points.

Yes, every once in awhile jealously rears its ugly head. You see, uniformity has no tolerance for exceptional beauty and competence.

Perhaps the one law we cannot deny is the law of physics.....Like " The following equation is used to represent the kinetic energy (KE) of an object.

where m = mass of object

v = speed of object

This equation reveals that the kinetic energy of an object is directly proportional to the square of its speed. That means that for a twofold increase in speed, the kinetic energy will increase by a factor of four. For a threefold increase in speed, the kinetic energy will increase by a factor of nine. And for a fourfold increase in speed, the kinetic energy will increase by a factor of sixteen. .... " consider that at 150 mph you have the same stored energy as a 36,000 lb truck doing 50 mph. Little wonder that when **** happens at speed it gets real nasty ! You get Nascar style crashes without the roof flaps to keep the car from flying over the fence !
