Clocked at 150mph: what would likely happen?

No, I wasn't snared, I'm just curious.
Say I was noodling along at 85mph and decided to floor it for a third gear drop, held it wide open to the 130mph-something 3-4 shift, and kept my foot on for another minute or so. It doesn't take long to be looking at speeds like that.
Would it be a go-to-jail-directly scenario and a car impound? Or would you just get a ticket and be sent on your way?
I know it's a state law issue, and so responses will vary, but as I said, I'm just curious. I don't drive like that.

Would depend on the cop and how you acted. If you were CLEARLY not drunk or otherwise impaired and there was NO TRAFFIC and you were not doing anything dangerous other than the speed... Probably just looking at a BIG TICKET and might be a required visit w/ the judge on that one too...
I was nailed at 106 on an exit ramp from a local highway (I was slowing down from about 115 - 120 in my Monte Carlo SS Supercharged) and the guy wrote me for 10 over the posted so I could do DD! Motorcycle cop...he was all smiles as he walked up to my car and asked if I knew how fast I was going?

At 150 mph your sHARk would be 'hooked', and your azz would be impounded.
That's reckless endangerment which in most states is 1 step below DWI/DUI.
I don't care what ANYONE here at the forum say's the license will be Joe Walsh 'gone' as a tort/liability issue for the citing officer if for no other reason.
You have absolutely no case or standing in court and the officer WILL be there for a 150mph (80 over) ticket.
Driving privleges revoked, pay the Baliff, Next case!

The end of the story is I got out of the ticket!

Depends on every variable probably including the phase of the moon.
I was ticketed at 64 in a 55 on a sunny afternoon on an empty four lane highway whose speed limit had been 70 a few years before the NMSL and was 70 again a few years later. Nasty and slow, with a good "talking to" that had to be endured.
And I've been written for 85 in a 70 on an empty, dry, four lane interstate at 11 at night. The punchline is that that guy had been following me for more than ten miles while he waited for back-up to arrive. He was afraid I might run since I was rolling 115-120mph. Both nice guys, no lecture, no threats - I was on my way in ten minutes even though I was from a state 1300 miles away. I even asked if I'd done anything unsafe and he said no.
Five years apart, same 911S. Both incidents were state cops, TX & KY. Both times I was sober, alert and behaved the same way as always - polite, cooperative and taciturn.
(Then there was the CHP stopped in traffic beside us on the Oakland approach to the Bay bridge that looked over at us and said, "Don't smoke that stuff on the bridge, boys.")

About 10 years ago I hit 130 MPH. Then saw the radar trap, was chased down by two State Troopers. Issued a ticket for 100 MPH and mandatory court date. Pleaded guilty and paid $90.00.
Then for years to come paid big $$ for insurance on my Toyota pick-up.

I managed to get tagged by a Nevada Highway Patrol at 109 and the Firehawk behind me was hit for 107 coming back from an ORR. We pulled over quickly and waited for the officer to get turned around and caught up to us. I still had all the numbers and stickers on my car from the race, helmet and driving suit in the passenger seat. (it was instant-on radar around a corner, no chance!)
I politely asked if he could give us a break and he said that he did...we were not going directly to jail. As he walked past my friend/follower for the last time he told him that he couldn't have caught me. What he didn't know is that I had just outrun the Firehawk at around 160 and we were in the process of slowing down when he caught us. $475 ticket.
Coming back home from a weekend trip at about 3am, I-15 empty and I am doing 150+. I get a few miles from home and encounter traffic, slow right down to 70. About two miles later a car comes flying up behind me, lo and behold on come the lights. He had been sitting in a small town and had seen me go by on the interstate and decided to give chase. It got a little heated by the highway before he ticketed me for "in excess of 100mph". When I went to pay it I found that one month prior the fine would have been $120 but in August of that year they raised the rates...to $440! I respectfully told the judge that I didn't recall voting for that and he said that I didn't get the chance to. I then requested that he fine me for the actual speed that I was going. After questioning the HP he stated that he was doing 121 and I was still walking away, he also admitted that he did not clock me on radar and did not pace me since he could not catch me (Ketchmi!) The PA dropped it to 84 in a 65 and I was free to go after a $200 fine, still pretty happy about getting it dropped from 155ish to 84.
I have slowed down on the highway since, it was getting too expensive!

Passed motor cycle cop with radar gun doing 115 in 3 series BMW. Made him chase me down, flash his lights/siren and motion me over (still doing 115). As soon as he got to my window I said, "Sorry officer, I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome and am trying to get home before I crap my pants." He immediately waved me on and said, "Go, go, just keep it below 90." As he walked back to the bike he was looking down and shaking his head. As a pulled away I noticed a patrol car pulling up behind the bike so I figure they had planned a ride for me. 5 miles down the highway there was another patrol car in the median doing radar and waved at me as I passed doing 90.

LightStriker,
I got nailed doing 164 in a 90 zone and had no issues with the cop.
Granted that was kmph :P
However at 150+ MPH they would NEVER even give chase here, they would radio ahead and have others watching you waiting for you to slow down, if you were in a highly poplulated area they would put air support on you and wait for you to stop. Then pounce on you.
