Rixter-

For me, the most fun option would be for as many 928's as possible to show up for coffee at the Apex Wake Zone ( https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...bagels-39.html) , then head over for the Tech part of the fun at David's place in a bit of a "fun run". It would be nice to fill up the parking lot with the rumble of V-8's. To outnumber the 6 bangers just once would be priceless.

Just my $0.02, and I'll go either way.

Being from Charlotte, I haven't heard of any of these places...

Just give all the pertinent details when a plan is set in stone.

Brier Creek always has 5 or 6 928's every Saturday morning, and usually about 15-20 total P-cars.
Some of the local 928 guys will hopefully make the trip to my house for the tech session.

For those guys from out of town we usually meet at 8am.

Here's the address (for mapquest or your GPS):

Camille's Sidewalk Cafe
8411 Brier Creek Parkway #109
Raleigh, NC 27617

We'll then head to my house around 10am or so. If you are coming from out town you can head straight to my house and we'll be there be no later than 11am.

Here's my address (for mapquest or your GPS):

1394 Neills Creek Rd.
Lillington, NC 27546

My cell # 910-984-5351

David,
make sure you let Ray know, I'm sure he'll want to participate... and probably bring a couple more sharks with him

Barring anything weird, I plan on heading to Brier Creek, then down to David's. Brier Creek is a good time, and for those of you coming from a distance, it may be worth the detour and earlier start, especially anybody coming from north of Raleigh/Durham.

Who wants their car subject of the tech session? My car will not need anything. We should have time to hit several cars at once since I have 3 bays and a lift. If you have any plans for repairs or upgrades that aren't too indepth, make sure you have you parts ordered so we can get it done. If something backfires and a car has to stay on the lift for a few days that is no problem as long as you can get home.

I'll have beer, soda, and hot dogs & beans for lunch.

Everyone chime in that wants a tech spot and post what you want done so we can kinda organize.

Things I would like to see:
1. Anybody have a Sharktuner?
2. Anybody need to do a PorKensioner install? Or demo any of the PorKen tools?
3. I could do a transmission fluid service.
But I've got nothing critical, so mainly just looking for some general knowledge transfer....

the only local with a sharktuner is Brad Moyer, maybe David can convince him to come over
I believe David has the P'tensioer installed on his GTS
trans service is easy, get a gasket set and some fluid, takes a bit over 30 minutes

I've got all the Transmission service bits ready, just have not been motived to crawl under the rear lately.
There's gotta be somebody who needs timing belt, or motor mounts or flappy valve fix or X-Pipe install.....
David, if you can convince Brad M to drop by, that would be a huge plus. I know him and have spent more than a few dollars at his shop, but I doubt I have any clout with him. Of course, the last thing he may want to see on his off day would be more 928's........

Brad is definitely a lone wolf. I doubt he would come over. I think he wife has been hammering him lately to spend some time with her and not cars.

The trans service should be easy to do on a tech day. TB/WP jobs may be too much since we are starting at 11-ish. Things tend to go wrong on those TB/WP jobs by my experience. But we can try it if someone is game, just be prepared for an 'awh-****' and the need to order a part or two.

I'm thinking along these lines for tech jobs:

-trans service or differential fluid
-oil changes
-brakes (I have a 1-man brake fluid changer)
-x-pipe/rmb install
-front bearings
-rear bearings (if someone has done them before, I haven't)
-replacing belly pans
-checking flexplate on autos (maybe a super clamp install)

Just have your parts ready and we'll knock it out.

I don't rule out a TB/WP job, but that will take some time and it always has those different levels of failures during the process.

If I can get Ray Munch and David Brown over they are really good on 928's, as is Rixter.

Tools available at my shop: hands tools (of course), 2-post car lift, large parts washer, 2-stage air compressor (w/ impact gun, cutting wheel/grinder, and ratchet), bench grinder, drill press, bench vise, large utility sink w/ hot water.

I have all of the requisite power steering lines/reservoir to fix my leak (had Griffith's remanned rack installed in '06)... but the book shows it to be about a 12 hour job. That's because the radiator/condenser/fans/etc. has to come out to get to the cooler line. My rad leaks -but I don't have a replacement to do at the same time... so it would be a job that -for the most part- would have to be done twice.

You guys need to start a thread about this over on Reutterwerk.com to see if any of those 928 guys can attend... just a thought?
