I'm in the process of a front pad refresh.

Trying to pull the brake pad wear sensor connector out of the plug located behind the wheel.

It is not just pulling out - seems to be something locking it in place. It's pulled out about 3/4 way.

What am I missing?

Looking at the plug end of the new sensor I'm thinking I just need to tug harder to release it from the receiver?

Do you have a neighbor who is more manly? He might be able to assist.

Really? You thought this was a valuable item to add to the conversation? How about asking questions and helping the poster investigate what’s going on? “Manning up” doesn’t stop a plastic piece from snapping if it’s held up on something.

Who need brake pad sensors. Porsche brake calipers allow a lot of visual sights with no obstruction on the thickness of the pads. Just shunt the wirings and that will solve your problem.

Randy, your car is newer than mine and has different sensor wires but is still the same setup. Those wires are a PITA but they should pull out. I had a helper (wife) hold from the top with pliers while I pulled from the bottom. Driver side was worse since more stuff is in the way. Where the wire plugs in might just be corroded and stuck on. Getting the new wires through the hole in the wheel well and the rubber grommets is sort of annoying too.

To the previous posts about why to replace...well, to get that damn dash light to turn off for starters. Also, depending on your wheels you can't always see the pads that clearly. I don't know if mine had ever been replaced but the 40 year old system worked great. The dash light came on and once I replaced the pads and wires all was well again. It is a slight PITA to replace them but once replaced properly everything works just like Mr. Porsche intended. I would rather it be done right rather than half a$$.

Not half ***. Its a full *** in following Mr Porsche blindly to satisfy a needless task. Car manufacturers put in brake pad sensors because of government requirements. We all know how much sense when it comes to government requirements. Unless you are talking about vintage cars that uses hubcaps, I've never seen a wheel, especially Porsches, that block any visual sights so that the brake pads are hidden from you view. So eyeballing brake pad thickness every now and then is just commonsense. Also, Porsches are sports cars and a lot of people take it to DE and we all know how lame the stock brake pads are on the track, Hence you want to change pads from daily driving to more track oriented pads. Eliminating the brake sensor by shunting the wires will avoid lighting up your dash as well as being able to swap pads on the fly. You can do whatever you want and if you want to follow Porsche's design as it comes from the factory, then don't do any mods. In fact stick to stock pads which blasts your wheel with brake dusts like no tomorrow. I'm just pointing out how I do things and how in the world could that be answered as doing things HALF-*** ?

Don't mind Sean - his Mom never hugged him as a child. He has never had an opportunity to work on a GTS so his response is understandable. But I still ove him anyway.

I figured it out. There is a locking ring around the assembly that the sensor plugs into. It unclips and swings outwards. It is designed to lock the ABS and brake pad wear sensors into the assembly.

Those rings can break so be careful when opening them. Also another tip: A big problem with the ABS and the brake sensors is that the grommets which hold the wires to the car tend to disintegrate. They really need to be there otherwise the wires rub with the usual false alerts and overall mess. Someone made a set of the grommets for sale awhile back, I wish they would make another run because they are exceptionally useful.

(There are two kinds of grommets)
