Default Maf relocation pixx

I am starting to get the parts together to relocate my Maf due to low acceleration surging.
Here is a prototype to allow the Maf to be placed on the intake of the S/C. I have Kevin from Injection labs making a Maf pigtail to extend the harness and working on getting a dead Maf to allow to reconnect the intake correctly.
This should put the surging issue to bed or make me crazy not sure if thats that hard.

Now to work on getting a radiator now that mine is destroyed!

Cool

To bring us all up to date (since I'm missing some data I'm sure others are) you fixed the majority of your issues when you discovered some loose ground connections under the dash. Correct?

Before anyone asks, you cannot compare this to Shane's car since he has an intercooler directly above the MAF (which is still in the stock location). So it's not an apples to apples comparison.

Tampa,
Just order up an intercooler like Shane's

Get in line, I get the next one!!
85/86 unit should fit the 16V, maybe with minor modifications.

Yes.
I added a new two way switch to the front of the radiator to kick on the "new" fans while keeping the front fan stock.

My original problems were related to Maf issues it took 3-Mafs to straighten my A/F ratio out.

My ongoing drop out was discovered after I took off the dash to replace a comb flap and decided to check the panel connection under the plastic cover. I found 3 of 6 spade connectors loose they would wiggle side to side. The loosest one went to the Injector relay after removing and re-crimping I have not felt a drop out yet.

My surging has not gone away and this is why I am trying to test a theory and will know soon if it works.

The heating issue is related to in traffic stop and go in Florida heat I cannot get enough cooling to the condenser due to the S/C blocking the air flow. I pulled the radiator to have it cleaned, ordered new tanks from Roger and the shop broke off 8-tabs. Now I need to replace it, my one and only question to the shop was it blocked the answer was NO!

So all this damage and work was caused by chasing a problem with air flow.
And just to be clear I spoke to Shane his car started to over heat in traffic otherwise it ran fine. In Florida another set-up is required due to the heat I am waiting on feedback as to what approach to take, large fan or 4-small.

Different car, my supershark hasn't even gotten close to overheating, that was my 5speed that overheated in Los Angeles traffic.

Mark I'll call you tomorrow about the rad clips. I'm not sure if my band saw blade is any good. Don't worry I'll take care of you.

Cheers
Matt

I don't mean to be petty but I'm pissed about my radiator. Evey little thing gets amplified, wish I drank, would this be a good time to start?.
There is nothing worse than breaking something that was not broken before especially at that price.

Tampa (and everyone else with heating issues)
Radiator, radiator, radiator.......

Aggrivation sent his radiator to Todd after everything he tried would not fix his over heating problem. Guess what Todd found? Almost completly clogged under the side tanks and a good amount of debris coming out of the core.

I wanted to take pictures of this, next time. I'll be yanking my radiator next and doing a full write-up on what Todd does when he makes the aluminum side tanks.
We are hoping to start offering this service as a way to "save" OEM radiators. If the core is solid a good flush / welded side tanks may be the hot ticket.
Thanks to cold_beer839 I have a solid core (busted side tanks) radiator on the way I'm going to use for this.

Kevin at Injection Labs is good people. I visited him in their facility when they were located here in NV. Nice guy and willing to spend time talking with you about whatever. Hope your issue is solved.

Mark It's always a good time to start drinking

I hope they didn't charge you for breaking your radiator.
All you should need to get it back together is the o ring seal and I'll make the clips for you.
Don't lose any sleep over it just focus on the MAF mod.

You know I'll have the Maf in, fans all hooked up and no radiator, it's tough to be type A.
The good news are the cams are both set to zero so a little -2 on the passenger side should wrap that up.
So from the last two posts is there hope for my wallet.
Hacker did you get my P.M.?

When was this? I just looked going back to mid-April, didn't see one. I don't usually delete PM's until my box is full.

You know the mind is the first to go; the P.M. was for Heinrich concerning the radiator.
