Four posts have a light footprint. Mine is sitting on 16x16x3.5" precast pads, over packed crushed rock (over clay) for the moment, and it is quite stable.
I like four post lifts because they're much faster on and off. Setting up the two post arms every time is a chore.
Look ma! I made you a covered pat-ee-o.
I'm going to build a carport roof over it, using the existing posts.
Note: I replaced all the no grade Chinese bolts on this Danmar with 'Murican grade 8.

The instruction manual states that you should cover the electro-hydraulic unit if it is used out of doors. I'm going to make an enclosure for it. I also am vigilant on keeping everything lubed up. Soon the whole thing will be covered by a roof bolted to the posts.
The motor is 110/220, and was wired for 110. I rewired it for 220, and it's a bit faster, but it still takes what seems like a couple of minutes to, uhem, get it up.

Right now, I tie up the sides of the Costco enclosed carport, roll a bunch of stuff (on carts) out of the way, and drive through it.
I originally was going to build a little shop where the lift is sitting, but in order to get a level spot, I had to put the lift right there. I also didn't want to be higher that the neighbor's fence when at full height, and the land slopes upward forward of the car. I can't go farther back, because Honey Bunny wants garden space.
