Sterling,
Are you the guy that cemented the block, over bored, and put the 968 heads on way back in 2000?
I need to come see that monster. When do you guys meet where?
James,
Duplicolor has a blue temporary paint I may have to try it and see how I like it. I really liked em on the 944 Turbo.
I also found a company that makes temporary paint that requires a solvent to wash off but does not harm the original paint, its for doing company car marking and lasts 4 years.
Jason,
Yes, the OKC in RKD in OKC is for Oklahoma City. Looks like I will have the only shark in the local PCA.

Kevin,
Not really modded to extinction. It had rod knocking. Found the previous owner had Nikasiled the cylinders and then used stock rings. After 17,000 miles the harder rings started chipping away at the Nikasil and got into the bearings. When doing the rebuild I over boared out the Nikasil and did a stroker crank and pistons making it a 2.8L. After the build I only ran a max of 16 psi of boost with good air fuel and no detonation, 93 octane or better (I have 101 available between my house and work). After 4500 miles it started running rough on startup then blew the head gasket. The builder did not offer to even look at the car to see what might have gone wrong. With a wide fire head gasket and o-ringed head 16 psi of boost should not have been any kind of problem. Before the rebuild I was running up to 21 psi of boost without any problems. Very pissed off and frustrated I sold the car as is. The next owner tore it down and posted pictures. A very reputable and experienced mechanic examined the photos and told me it looked like the head lifted because the head bolts were not torqued properly said it was because there was a burnt looking hole in the gasket instead of a blown out break in the gasket. Later the next owner told me he had found all kinds of things wrong with the build up and engine installation, ie bolts broken off and others completely missing. I even had to replace the starter after receiving the car from the builder because they failed to put the heat shield back on that goes between the starter and the exhaust. So no, I did not mod the car out of existence, I just picked the wrong builder.
Will be changing the avatar once I got the GTS in my garage!

Yes welcome back Richard! Yeah things have changed a little bit, mods are becoming more and more common, from strokers to superchargers, to turbos! Dude on here is running a rear mount with with over 600 rwhp! Not that you want or need to do much modding with that nice GTS! Oh and who is Carl? I believe that would be Carl Faucett of 928 Motorsports, another great place for 928 stuff!!

Sterling, eager to see and hear it...
Andrew's in Argyle, now when?
Looks like i will be picking up the car next week. Michael said he was doing a concours detail before he would let me have it. Oh, and they are removing those weird looking pin stripes.

RKD,
Beautiful Car!! I agree, get those damn pinstripes off. Also, make sure he puts a cover over the jumper post. Water and that area do not mix! First Mod-get rid of that rear wiper!!
Looking forward to seeing it soon down in DFW Land!

Temporary auto paint is used for movies and commercials quite often. Especially preproduction models where you want to show "more" than one car. Or where you need a green 1967 XKE but the only one you can find to rent is white...

Oh man, I don't know if I will have the car by then. It is waiting to go thru Willhoits detail shop. I understand besides a full wheel of top to bottom detail he is going to reshoot the front clip to remove a few rock chips, and is removing the pin stripes. Michael says he wants to deliver me a concours winning car. He also decided to ship the car to me so I won't get any chips driving it home. Now I am going to have to get a clear bra put on as soon as I get it.
Says it will look better than this...
I am finding it difficult to believe.

Me too, it already looks absolutely beautiful.
I'm not sure I would go for the reshoot of the front clip unless they're certain the paint will be a perfect match. Unless of course the rock chips are bad enough to warrant it.
Can't wait to see more of this beauty.

Is this car Darin Mason's old car? He was up in the SF area in CA as I recall...maybe it was San Jose area. He would not have been the last owner, but maybe two back??? His car was just like this w/ pin stripe and everything, but I thought his striping was different. I was not a big fan of it...sounds like that is getting fixed though!
Great looking car! He had a big time Devek exhaust on it but I think he took that off when he sold it. Said it was LOUD on throttle...
Your car looks AWESOME!
