Default Thank you

Thanks Rob. I have already torqued it to 70 lbs, no problem. Tomorrow I will remove the flywheel lock and start rotating the engine.

BTW love your instructions, I fit in the dummies category since I'm no mechanic by a longshot and my first Porsche.

Default Grounding connector location

Hi Rob, I am at the point of reinstalling center timing cover and the tensioner light grounded out, but I'm not sure where it goes, can you assist ?

What is the deal with the paper gasket that I see in some of the pictures? Mine didn't come with that. Is that needed at all for vibration or something? Just making sure it wasn't left out by accident before I do this thing today with the help from a fellow Rennlister.

Thanks,
Bryan

Not provided with the black version.

Can't say why it was there on the old version and not anymore.
Just reinstalled mine (old version) and left the gasket there.

Initially it was used because of the dissimilar metals. Removed because it was thought that it could lead to some movement between the two parts. Certainly not needed to seal anything as per the original de-tensioner.

Saw him last year in September for coffee here in NC just before driving up to Frenzy 17 in VA. He was sending his original paint and interior sample books up to Jim Doer to be part of his collection.

We talked about how things were going on his property and with his car, but he mentioned it was the first time he'd been "out" in months. He said it took a lot out of him to drive down for coffee at the time.

It was great to see him. I hadn't seen him since SITM a couple years earlier (2011 I believe).

But I haven't heard from him since.

I'll be up to my elbows in 928 motor work. Bookmarked this thread to answer any question I might have.

Thanks for your contribution.

Found this pic of an Audi 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 engine (apparently from B5 S4). Its clear to see they have a long cam belt as well and also to see the clear genesis of the Porkensioner
