Lets face it, there are few Porsche fan that like/want a 928 wich is a good thing for us wouln't you say.... I know that many of us here(read me) would not have one if it weren't for that fact.
So, I'm driving one of the best street car ever made because it is not regarded as collectible... Mmmmm let me think.
Anyway it is par for the course here at Rennlist 928 division.

I very much liked it when my $200,000 house was "worth" $800,000 car guys are much the same Now that is has "corrected" and there has been a lot of "profit taking" it is worth maybe $600,000. But since I do not plan on selling it is a mute point.

I Look fwd. to my Excellence mag, will continue to subscribe.
Past 924, 944, early 911, current 928 Owner. Looking at another 911 project, would like a 914 or 916, Early VW's.
I like the 928, looks great, it's an 88, 150K+ miles, people think it is a New car, blast on the track, currently teaching my 15 year old how to drive in it every night, a differnt kinda of car than the 911 was on track, like em both. I had bought the 911 for $4400, had about 10 years working on it etc., sold for more than I had in it, the buyer sold for a few "K" more than I sold it for, and now is valued at twice I sold it for. I would project the same happens w/the 928 when it is 35 years old, that is another 15 years from now, so probably unless going to sit on a 928 for a few years not as same investment as the 911 was. The 911 project I am currently looking at would be an easier sell and repair, more aftermarket parts, and a bigger selling market, so probably better investment/project that would not cost money in the long term. I would currently need to sell the 928 for $11-12K to break even of what is into it, but think it is worth much more than that so not planning on it.
Just some rambling thoughts.

Plain and simple. Jim Schrager has never owned a 928. Until 2004, I don't think he even knew there was a single timing belt.
And the thinly veiled reasoning that we should stick with Excellence to try to change the content "from within" is specious.
Yeah, the 959 is really relevant in the "undervalued" segment.
I'm letting my subscription run out unless we see some major content in the 928 direction before it runs. Either that or I'll tear out the next 9ff article and repeatedly paper cut my wrists. Geesh.

Actually, I think the 959 very much IS undervalued and have thought so for some time now. $200-400k for a super complex and very rare against what RS 2.7s and four-cam anythings are pulling these days looks like a VERY smart pick. Especially when you think about how many kids' walls were adorned with 959 posters back in the late 1980s.
As for 9ff, sorry about that! I didn't like running two in a row, but they were breaking records. Sorry to be losing you as a subscriber...

As far as Exc911ence goes. I guess I can cut them a little slack. They did just do a very good write up on Ott's monster. I guess I'll keep my subscription for another year. (Just keep some more 928 articles coming)
