you mean crank! the rods can be the same length, but then the pistons must change were they connect at the wrist pin. generally most of the stroker cranks give a 13mm longer throw of the piston

It is all about the crankshaft , rods may or may not be the same length BUT tend to need to be shorter because the top of the piston can not go any higher so must travel farther down which causes all linds of other issues like the skirts of the piston hitting the counter weights on the crank. The longer stroke and shorter connecting rods and or shorter pistons puts additional side loading on the cylinders as well as higher piston speeds for the same RPM. But short answer is a bunch more torque. Think of the well with a rope a bucket and a hand crank...the longer the crank throw the easier it is to lift the bucket.
kinda, but ya gotta rework everything else to make it run right - open up the heads/cams/exhaust, add more fuel and air, retune.. then rework stuff for the extra muscle like brakes, tires, suspension, trans, rear end. it's a slippery slope for sure. see sig linky for details of what it takes for a 928 and do a stroker thread search here to see how much fun it can be....
