Okay folks-
Car has had it's PPI- passed, and all that it needs is the T/B-WP.
I'm going to post a lot of pics, plus the invoices on the car...as it stands now, I have pretty much decided to buy it...but want to make sure I'm not ******** myself because I love the car...

Question 1 is how bad do you want the car and judging by above you want it bad so there you go. As far as price, if condition and PPI checked out it's a no brainer.

i would be very curious as to why the motor was totally rebuilt. it appearts all the guts were replaced, but no indication that the crank was changed or any work was done to the block, so at least from the info posted this does not appear to be a stroker project.
assuming that everything checks out with the motor and the rebuilders are reputable, it seems to be quite a good deal at 35k.
interesting when you look at the details of the receipts; $257 for a k&n filter

Engine rebuild. Don't know what to tell you regarding same....Shop (EU Autoworks, Courtney, who seems to have a solid rep on Rennlist (Canuck side) did the work...PO wanted to track the car, decided after plonking down the moolah on rebuild that it was too heavy, went with a 951.

Seams a bit high for a non original car with nearly 140k miles. Although I wouldn't take a penny less than $42,500.00 for my stock 93 5 speed with 62k miles.

This car is a strange duck... doesn't really fit the GTS pricing model anymore because of the engine. But assuming everything works as advertised... $35k is a good price IMHO. Be prepared to spend up to another $10k for other stuff. I'm not saying you will have to spend it, just saying be prepared in case you do.

PPI shows well. Other than the TB.WP, which is included in the sale price. Tires are new last fall, rebuild was done 27,000 KM ago....she looks right....kinda hard to be pragmatic about her when Im chewing my fingers to the bone ...

I didn't go through the invoice line by line.
Is the racing brake pedal connected (metaphorically) to the rebuilt engine? What I mean is, was it raced? 27,000 Kilos = 16,875 miles right? Why the rebuild? Could go either way on the plus/minus of a rebuild IMHO.

Sounds a little high to me, but not far out of line.

The engine was PROBABLY rebuilt for excessive oil consumption a COMMON GTS issue. They did update the connecting rods as Porsche requires for the early GTS when the pistons are removed because the early rods BEND. The Porsche factory executive cars got new engines BEFORE being sold to the public. A number of GTS cars when near new got warranty replacement engines as well. I recall one in Great Britain which I think got TWO !! And this is NOT a stroker engine . What is NOT ORIGINAL about this car ?? Wheels ? BFD . People spend $35,000 on all sorts of new POS cars that we KNOW will only be worth $5,000 in 4-5 years. Drive what you want to drive ....life is short.

Just buy it, subject to normal PPI of course. Many people spend this and more on a boat that, that after the 1st rush of enthusiasm, then sits tied up at the jetty most of the time. Invoice suggests its got 'big exhaust valves' but I don't see 968 valves on the parts list. Maybe owner supplied them? But anyway, what's the risk. So you buy it and don't like it or need to sell it in a hurry. Well discount it $5,000 (?) and sell it. So it's not a $35,000 risk, only a $5,000 risk. Have I convinced you? (Not my money though...) :-). Wish I were in your 'predicament'.

Check 'em on the HP statement by having them dyno it with you present...if it really is a "Stroker" a dyno will show that.

supposed to send me a "sound bite" of the beasty this Monday...hard to explain to my boss that I have to fly thru 7 time zones for a test drive...so it will have to wait until Aug.
Cont. rods were upgraded. I don't see the valves mentioned either, but my friend in T.O. (GM of local dealership) says he worked with Courtney at the Porsche dealership in the 80's and knows what he's about. He went and put an eyeball to it, likes it.
