I think I know the answer to this question but I just want to be sure. Is the crank bolt, the one that holds the pully's and gear onto the crankshaft, normal or reverse threaded. In otherwords, is it lefty loosey, righty tightey or is the other way around. I have been trying to loosen this darn thing but it is freakin' on there good. I am about to go all midevil on its @$$ and throw some heat to it. But before I continue I just wanted to double check the rotation.

Nope... regular righty tighty - lefty loosey.

My breaker bar is IIRC 28". Once I added a cheater to that. Not ashamed to admit it.

I use a 1/2" drive cheater bar with a 4' pipe extension and even that has issues sometimes.

(I use the 3' handle from my lift as a cheater bar on the end of my 1/2" 3' long breaker bar)

I use a 3/4" with 3' breaker bar, comes right off and I'm a little guy

I've got a big honkin 5' long snap on 3/4" ratchet I could use. I just don't know if I have an 1 1/16" socket to fit it. Hmmm? I'll go check.

they are often very ,very tight.... use a longer bar

Took about 5 feet for me.

Did not need to go with the brace up the bar and hit the starter thing but it was close.

I used a 1/2" breaker bar, and the handle from my floor jack and broke the end off the breaker bar!! then tried a 3/4" breaker and 1 1/16" socket and just managed to round the bolt!! Then took out the radiator and used the impact wrench with a gator grip! Still haven't got it off!!!! arrggghhh!! Was gonna try heat next too!!!

Shawn, if you get yours off let me know how you did it!! (and then maybe you could come up and help me! lol)

Some people unfortunately have used Loctite on the crank bolt as well as a really big rattle gun on high pressure air...they get really tight. I also hear about bolts backing out once in a while so some are also too loose...

yeah, so when you put it back on, save the next owner or yourself some trouble and tighten to the factory torque specification. I think its 212 or 252 or 2 something, double check it first then tighten it up to that and its all good, NO LOCTITE

Soaked it overnight in Kroil and then took it right off with an impact wrench.
