I presume the rubber stop is supposed to go on the end? There was nothing on the piston when I removed it, and I removed the spring as well just to be sure.
Even though the new seals were not really the same as the old ones, they seem to have done the job as the pedal travel is now perfect, I didn't even have to bleed the system.
