Dear Kevin,
I saw your car on the 928 registry. http://928registry.org/1989-928GT-1129.htm
It has only been driven 312 miles.
Don't you have time to enjoy an occasional drive in this car?
Why have such a fine car and just look at it?
These cars need exercise to stay in good shape!
I am not sure if Ferdinand would have approved your behavior.
With mileage this low on a car so old, the out-gassing of the volatile oils in the fabrics and plastics is the only thing causing any deterioration of this car.
Perhaps you are not driving it because you are saving your money to afford some gasoline........
All in good fun,
Allen in Allentown, PA

On that note, I'm actually thinking about changing the insurance from collectors to "normal" on my replica cobra so I can take it to work. 2,200lbs with a small block it's the most fuel efficient car I own!!

the car is actually owned by Bob Ingram, his collection is FULL of low mileage P-cars
the day the GT came in it was actually the high mileage of the 3 he bought, he also got an 88 911CS with 80 miles and a 924 Sebring with 40 something miles on it

I am glad there are a few ultra low mile examples of our cars out there. I agree that our cars need to be driven, but it is also fun to drool over someone elses pristine low mile example that still looks like it did when it came from the factory.

We do and will need time capsules to reference as more and more of these cars fall into the restoration category.
As much as I enjoy driving the sharks, I also appreciate the well cared for low mileage examples.

Still... drive the son of a bitch! It's the lowest mileage 1989 GT around - and it's going to stay that way even if he drives it once in a while! Of course, that's probably all easier said than done - it's most likely set up for long term storage.
Did you see those poor Club Sports with the awful lead rim weights on them?! Those should come off and be replaced with tape weights.

I appreciate drivers, but they are only original once, and sorry guys, I wouldn't trade my collectors for anything. Ask yourself this, do you think a story about a 180k mile 928 5spd in a garage, hidden from the world, would draw as much attention as say a 95 mile , 1990 GT, 5 Spd, Pearl white on Pearl White leather... I think not ....

To me, they are cars, and are only beautiful if they do their job well.

That GT should NOT be driven.....its far to valuable to drive it........ every mile it gets will drop the value substantially...... I also think this GT will trade for MORE than MSRP.....

I debate about taking them off but technically that is how the car was shipped from the factory so.....

This poor car will live it's life sheltered ...a toy of the rich..destined to be secluded in a dark dungeon and only brought out to "entertain" select folks....
It will never be able to fulfill its destiny to bring the joy and passion of driving to its owner..never having even set its four rubber tires on the autobahn as Dr. Porsche had intended...It has failed..and yet must go on ...in its plastic bubble...a mere showpiece of what greatness it could have been....
