An easier question is, what handgun is there that one would want to carry that wouldn't fit?
I'd find the gun I needed for whatever purpose and buy it based on that criteria instead of buy a gun because it fit in the door box.
I hope you aren't planning to leave it in the box when you aren't in the car...there are already too many guns floating around in the wrong hands!

Ruger P-85 and Baretta 9mm also fit.
BUT, one word of caution, the extra weight of a fully loaded auto can cause some negative issues with the door panel long term. That extra weight as you close the door over and over tends to cause the plastic liner etc to seperate from the door panel.

Is it a crime in your state to go armed with a handgun in the passenger compartment of your vehicle? Where I live, it must be in the trunk or rear cargo area, safely stowed/secured (in a case and/or with a gun lock) for transport only. I strongly encourage you to seek legal advice as to whether this is legal, let alone advisable. If you have a carry permit, why not just carry it on your person?

Each state can be different if you have a permit or even if you don't.
Here in S.C. with a permit I can hide it in a pizza box on the front seat if I want to, without a permit it has to be in the trunk or in the glove box unloaded with the ammo in a different location. In N.C. I think it has to be on the dashboard in plain sight if you don't have a permit...
I'd check with the state police wherever you are going to be driving unless you just want to roll the dice.
