Door hard to close
Recently I noticed my door has become really hard to close. I have to put a lot of effort into it. So, I took a look and noticed that a piece is loose. I tried tightening it but it just won't tighten. It looks like a PO has tried to fix it before since the bottom bolt is clearly not stock.
The piece is supposed to stay in the same spot when the door closes, but as the door closes the piece moves, making it harder to close the door. You can see what I mean by looking at the pictures. Is there a fix for this? On the bright side I've gained some muscle over the past couple weeks trying to close my door.
Thanks

It looks like you are missing a bolt on the top of that plate. I just went out and looked at mine and there are two bolts that look different than the one on your car.

if you can, remove the top bolt IIRC its a triple square head, you may be able to have get 2 new replacement bolts or go to the hardware store and try to get a cap screw match the bolt so its length and its head fits into the recess of that door stop plate use some blue loctite on the new screws.
It also looks like the shouldered bolt that goes in from the top is working loose you could possibly swap this bolt with the passenger side, use loctite on this as well if you want the doors to stay open I know Nicole has the door staying opener for sale, made by Jager

I can't believe it's been over 2 years and I still haven't fixed this. The issue with my door has become even worse due to my armrest brackets being broken. I'm finally fed up and decided to order the armrest backing support from 928 International. I figured while I'm at it I might as well try to fix this problem at the same time and order everything at once.
I think the problem is with the aftermarket bolt the PO used (the bottom silver bolt) and I'm wondering if I just replace that bolt if it will fix the problem. Does anybody know the part number of the bolt I need to buy to replace that?
Thanks

Buying a stock replacement might not help. The odd bolt might be there because the threads are damaged in the door frame.
Since you will have the door panel off, I would suggest that you:
- Buy a set of good triple-square sockets. There are several places that these are used on the car, and as Porsche says, "There is no substitute". Google "XZN" - here is a sample - there are other sets available. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...G6C52SFT7KE9V6
- Remove the door check assembly. See if the door closes easily. If so, buy a replacement and install it.
- Do all of the WYAITs while you have the door panel off. It will feel good to have the door open/close easily, the window go up/down quickly and smmothly without rattling, etc., etc.

This is very timely as I was wondering about those hinge bolts.
I'm not sure that the top bolt is missing - those bolts are very snugly recessed and it could be there but discoloured/worn. I've attached photo of the same part on my car, taken when i fitted new stays.
Background is a friend of mine has a lovely black 91 S4, but I noticed when I was looking over car fro him that this same door stay mount was loose. The bolts looked like torx heads and are not easily accessible with the arm in the way which carries wiring loom to door.
Anyway I tried torx drivers from my toolkit but none worked, and it seemed his heads were rounded anyway by someone who had tried to tighten/loosen them originally.
Can anyone confirm whether these are torx bolts, and why did Porsche choose to use them in this application (I can't think of any other bolts of this type anywhere else on the car)?

The bolt are "triple square" or "XZN" fasteners. There are several on a 928, including the flywheel attach bolts.
Nothing works except for the correct tool...

6mm...O'Rieley's sells a set of 6,8,10,&12mm for not too many $$$...and that set will take care of all the 4x3's in a 928 I think....I haven't yet found any it will not fit...and I think I have had my hands on every external bolt in the 81-84 years....
