Default Help, Hesitation ?

The 86.5 has been hesitating alot off the line. It just seems like there's alot of pedal now, with no action ? The pedal just feels sloppy now. If that makes sense. I've done the following so far to try and remedy. I'm lost

- New Temp II sensor
- Airbox Sensor
- Rebuilt MAF w/ New O-rings, cleaned MAF w/CRC and put in stock air filter.
(feels like a MAF problem, but I just replaced it.)

Derrick - recheck vac lines - maybe something got knocked off when you did the MAF work. Look at 7 way splitter down in the vee. Also, if the vac line came off up on the firewall where the line comes in from the computer, you will have the same hesitatioin issue....

A good way to check if there's a leak at the 7-way is to pull off the hose at the EZ-F. There should be strong vacuum there at idle.

What do the spark plugs look like?

Are you driving it to Hershey? Also, my friend just bought an '84, and he is looking for spare parts - do you have the rear quarter passenger side window trim?

OK, now I feel like a dunski !

I pulled the MAF again and... I had the seals in backwards..(large seal on MAF, small seal inside). I didn't realize the larger seal was even in there, it was completely squashed flat. So I got it out (in 3 pieces) Put the new seals in properly, installed the MAF, and I really heard it seal this time. Took it for a ride, vroooooom. thanks !

also, cleaned up alot of crap under there, found some old broken MAF seals, which means the original MAF I pulled wasn't even sealed.

Porken...

I did a tune up about 200miles ago...caps/rotors/plugs. It's running much better now, but I'm still going to check that vac line you mentioned at the computer to see if there is any leaks. thanks

when putting a new MAF in an 85/86 engine you need to set the base afr setting, dont forget that
