Default 19" wheels fit on my 928?

19x9 with 255/40/19 had to do a little bit of bending in the back of the wheel well. probably shoulda gone with a 255/25/19 but it works!!!!!!!!!!

Look like they will rub cornering or hitting a bump... The diameter of 255/40/19 is 27 inches, factory is 24.7-25". That alone could be a big problem.

Awfully big and with all the trial and error on this board I find it unlikley that someone overlooked 19 inch rims that can fit. Things look awfully crowded, been over a speed bump yet?

the rims are off a cayenne. the pics were taken with my camera phone and didnt come out too well so a played with the brightness and options a bit. I have about 90 percent turning capability (like I said, shoulda gone with the 255/25/19s), and probably will try to avoid speed bumps.
When i got the car it had the stock 16x7 rims all the way around with 255/55/16s all around, so I did the math andused the same 27" diameter but went a bit wider.

Hmm, Porsche never offered the 928 with a 27" tire/wheel assembly. They have all been very close to 25". Your car came from the factory with 225/50x16 tires which were 24.85" tall. The tires the PO put on the car were completly wrong, even if you had 9" wheels on all four corners. So you started off with a bad assumption. The stock wheels were 7" and 8" IIRC. Normally you can increase the overall diameter by 3% which will take it to 25.6", you went 9% which effectively lowers your rear end ratio (slower acceleration, but better gas milage). Lastly, as others heve mentioned, you may have clearance problems and rubbing on bumps, tight turns or spirited driving. A 305/25x19 is exactly 25" tall and is the closest to the stock diameter, but I don't know if it will fit in your rear w/w.

Good luck with it, I hope this doesn't turn into an expensive mistake.

That's cool, just make sure you stay on top of the tire pressure.

WOW! everybody is a pessimist! I have the rims on my car and have been driving agressively as usual for 3 days. Maine roads are bumpy and I have yet to have a problem. I was aware that the tires the po had on the car were not original but since they worked.... It was common sense that I could improvise with the same dimensions. thanks for stopping by though! talk to you later.

The size is not necessarily a terrible thing for you, but I just prefer my speedo to read accurately - be careful you don't get a ticket as with a rolling diameter 2" bigger than stock your speedo will be massively under-reporting your speed and you might find yourself getting tickets. It also explains why you needed to bend the fender to fit them.

Otherwise, I quite like the look of those cayenne wheels.. they somehow suit the 928, despite my expectations.

I'm with the minority here on the list but I like the way the cayenne wheels look on the 928. I also considered the 19" aftermarket versions on Ebay but the offset is different than the 18" stock version. I've seen these on an OB in the 18 " variety and think they look great. If I find a 18" set cheap I may pick them up. Rick there will always be people that don't agree with your like/dislikes. If it looks great to you then they are perfect. Jason
