Default Which electric fan to replace viscous fan?

Going to do the Porken tensioner upgrade soon, might as well remove the OEM viscous fan and replace with a electric. DR says 17" 2000 min CFM in front of the rad. Hayden 3817 meets this req but is over $200 from Napa ( and a "special order") , anybody got another fan tried and true for this app?

TIA KK

Don't pay that much for that fan! You can get the basically same fan at Summit for $83 (see link)

This 3000 cfm is only a puller, do I flip it to become a pusher or buy the next one down (97 vs 118) I don't care about the $20, Just want the best option.

Thanks KK

Hey guys...long time no talk
Anyway...this is the first time I see a 2000 cfm fan drawing less current than the 2000cfm fan. I'm hoping it's a typo, otherwise the cfm ratings may be suspect....or the current draw numbers are inaccurate...unless I'm missing something here

Both fans have the same specs 3000 cfm @ 10 amps 12 volts = 120 watts, just one looks to be pusher/puller ($118) and the other is just a puller($97). Unless your thinking of a different brand? Us Southern Gents have different requirements than the northern ilk, no need for "climate control" just flip the AC on full from April through November, so the biggest/highest CFM fan I can fit in is what I want.

My gut says puller behind the rad, just like stock, but...

Thanks KK

FWIW I have not had very good luck with Zirgo fans. Two different examples the propeller would not stay attached to the shaft. I now have a Spal, which I got from Carl. So far, so good.

FWIW I'm personally installed a few dozen Zirgo fans on 928's, so far not one issue to report.

I run the AC 12 months a year down here in Clearwater...yes even in cold Jan/Feb days.

As for the fans, I was making a comparison between the 3000 cfm units and the 2000 cfm (same brand) unit in the first link. Something just doesnt sound right when amp draw drops as cfm goes up for the same manufacturer. One of the claims (either cfm or amp draw) is not accurate...generally amp draw rises with higher cfm...again, just my observation. Just thought I'd point it out. Good luck with upgrade. I generally use Spal every chance I get, but they are pricey.

fwiw, devek has a cool dual spall 1710 setup w/an aluminum shroud... seems to work in socal heat/traffic w/out issues, even w/a built motor/headers, dual ac on, etc...

iirc, the biggest issue is the pulley that gets left out w/out a fan pulley.
