socalgirl, so long as you own this car, hopefully we won't be seeing this sentence prefacing your thread again!
Troubleshooting problems before attempts at repair are done (by the owner or by a shop) is a huge part of what this forum is all about.
Regardless of the outcome of this alternator situation, we all hope that you will turn to us with any question that you might have regarding your 928. No question is a stupid one (at least coming from an appreciative young lady) Simply post your question and let the Expert Huddle commence. From it, you'll get better advice and a more sound approach to your problem than anywhere else.
Unlike many mechanics out there, we all want your ownership of this car to be as trouble free and inexpensive as possible. So ask your questions here before somebody at a shop answers them for you.
Nowhere will you find a more knowledgeable or willing group of 928 enthusiasts who are ready to offer free, unbiased assistance (in a matter of minutes in your case!) By owning a 928 and becoming a Rennlist member, you're a member of the best 928 group on the planet. 5 pages of posts discussing and troubleshooting your situation say to me that this is the place to go first and foremost with any questions that you might have.
We really want to see you own this car for a long time and not become soured by bad advice and lofty shop bills.
Use this membership to your advantage. The ownership of your 928 will become much more enjoyable.
I promise.

He says: the "intermittent injector has NO pulse"
His name is Bill, his numner is 951 698 5432
If anyone has any thoughts, please email me so I can tell him, or call him...

Also, other manufacturers that have L-Jet FI put "Crank sensors" in the distributor, usually a Hall Sensor. Having never worked on a L-Jet 928, I do not know if this is the case with Porsche. Anyone care to chime in?

Green wire.
No crank position sensor.
I had similar problems. Replaced injector & fuel pump relays. Removed alarm module completely + jumpered the alarm at the Z plug. Cleaned grounds. These things fixed it.
Does this specific car have an alarm circuit?

Socalgirl, I suggest you have your mechanic call Jim Bailey at 928 Int'l 714/632-9288 and have Jim educate him on the infamous Green Wire. I have a feeling it is at the root of your problem
