Fuel Dampner 928.410.429.07 ? no it's a vacuum limiter, PN 928.110.173.01
For an 86.5 Auto. Can't find a reference to it anywhere. Not on the vendors websites. Has it been obsoleted and superceded by something else? I don't have access to my PET right now, but can someone look it up?
I also wouldn't mind bypassing altogether...for now. But how?
thanks

Thanks Matt. Based on the vacuum diagram, it looks like a control valve of some sort (best guess), but again, the stamped Porsche Part number on it remains a mystery! I will have to post a picture later for people to tell me what it and how it works, in case it's remotely associated with my hot start problem.
Thanks!

Anytime you see a number on a part it is almost never the PART NUMBER. It may be an internal number or manufacturres number, casting number it just almost never is the Porsche Part Number.

yes I'm realizing that. The casting # starting with 928 and the numbering structure got me fooled though.
Thanks

what is the condition of the check valve in the fuel pump. how about the condition of the fuel injectors? if they are original then this could be causing the hot start problem in addition to the FPR or damper

Thanks Shawn,
It seems that the part I'm looking for is a vacuum limiter, PN 928.110.173.01
No idea what it does and how....I'll have to figure this out
thanks!

Just replaced the fuel pump and check valve. Problem went away for a little while...until now again
So this problem is kicking my ***. car does not start immediately after shutdown when warm/hot. If it were the injectors, wouldn't they need a little time before they leak to the point of not allowing a restart? I also don't understand why it actually worked ok for a day! (and got me fooled that my spare check valve was bad).
It starts right up with no issues with regular fuel used as starter fluid

Vacuum limiters are a 16V part only.
TempII? Measure each pin to ground. Should be a few hundred ohms when warm.
How old is the MAF, crank sensor?
Vacuum leak(s)?

In that case, what is the 3 port thingy that is mounted on teh cross brace of teh 86.5?
No vacuum leaks that I could find - but wouldn't that cause a poor running problem anyway?
I measured pins 2 and 5 to be 1.6 kohms when cold on a 75 degree day. I beleive that to be within spec. car was not hot though...may be I should recheck when hot?
MAF and crank sensor are pretty old, but if they were suspect, why would the car start right up wirg fuel down the intake? just asking, not challenging the suggestion. I do have a spare MAF, so may be I can swap that as next step.
I have to admit that I hate troubleshooting by swapping parts without understanding why the part could be the culprit
Thanks!!

That is 944 110 429 00 "control valve" it is part of the fuel vapor charcoal container system and under certain conditions it pulls air through the container to purge the accumulated fumes. It MIGHT be an unmetered air leak into the intake if it is malfunctioning ???? Try blocking off both of the big hoses.

Thanks for the clarification Jim. I did that and still have the problem. I'm pretty stumped at this point with the cause of my hot start problem.
