So I talked to Tom about this and this is what the original owner told him. In 1990 Zipper Porsche Beverly Hills placed an order for this 928 and it's twin 911. Both cars were optioned to the max and both were Marine Blue Exterior and Linen w/Blue piping interior. Both also had the Rootwood options. These cars were showroom cars to show the various options available from Porsche. In 1991 the first owner walked into the showroom and bought this car for his wife. Judging by it's condition it hardly ever saw much driving although it does have a couple of minor door dings.
So somewhere out there is a matching 964. Sure would be cool to find it!
I am going to refer to the car as the Beverly Hills Car since that is where it started it's life. The cool thing is that all the orignal documentation is with the car right down to the key replacement codes, the new purchase check list and maintenance log with stamps.
Watch for another post with steps I'm using to restore the car.

Didn't mean to cause you to 'change the name' of your car, now...
Happy you sorted out that 'color thing'... Shall we refer to you as 'Custom Marine Blue?'
Af- what do you mean "restore"? You are talking cleaning and polishing right? My car needed a "restoration", but surely not that GT.
Tom Falkenberg is not a neglecting owner, he is I'm sure one of the best p.o.'s any of us could hope for.
p.s. Going to SITM '08? We have a whole bunch going down like '07 and '06.

Haven't decided if I'm going to SITM. I have every intention of driving the car but at the same time I want to avoid any weather and long trips which will add wear and tear to the paint. Local drives aren't a big deal since it's all back roads and easy to avoid flying debris but highways are another story. I'm starting to think that I will need another 928 (yeah I know!) that I can drive long distances without fear of ruining it.
I also need to determine if I can get the time off from work and home duty (new baby girl). If I do anyone interested in a copilot on the drive down? I can definitely bring the documents or make copies for anyone interested.

You are kidding -- right?
You know how many 'new best friends forever' you are about to hear from? LOL!
BTW -- 'I hear' that 'doctor's notes' work well in the work-off arena!
Best!

Like the piping on the upholstery! The blue lugnuts and wood shifter...notsomuch.
Sure it'll be spotless in short order (well, from where I sit anyway!).
The Boston PCA date @ Lars museum is already circulating in the regional newsletter.....

Prices on the 955 Cayenne S are coming down ... hell, you could get a 2004 RUF Cayenne (550 HP / 649 FtLb) for less than a new (957) Cayenne.

That's correct, black lug nuts as was stock for these cars. Wheel locks are not on at the moment but they will be put back on soon. Here is a pictures of the wheels before cleaning and after initial cleaning/claying. I still need to polish and wax them.

....and the very rare orange rotor option!
I believe that your car likely got Comp T/A's as factory tires. Chuck Z or Nicole could probably confirm or dispute. If you're going to be a stickler for detail re: tires, I wonder if there are decent ones still around.

Well Af, you now have your Trailer Queen you've always wanted - now get yourself a tow vehicle to trailer the Queen. Sell the Hondas and get a Cayenne S! You could surely justify it to you know who just on safety alone.

SMTCapeCod,
I was on the fence about the wood interior but after seeing it in person I really like it. Initially I thought it looked like an afterthought in the pictures but realistically the fit/finish is very good, definitely not just glued on. The shifter is also nice to hold.

Truth be told...I backtracked a bit and when I read the wood was factory my impress-o-meter spiked quite a bit.
