Default 928 Intl Relay Charts

This came up in a different thread... There are relay charts on the 928 International site:

78-84 http://www.928intl.com/repair/Relay/earlyrelay.htm
85-88 http://www.928intl.com/repair/Relay/earlyrelay2.htm

These have some major problems... the number assignments are hopelessly hosed (vs Porsche's roman numerals) and they even show the wrong number of relays on both panels...

I can understand not liking Porsche use of roman numerals or their whacky sequence - but this just adds even more confusion...

(Note the panel diagram of the '78-'84 is actually of an edited 85+ panel diagram which really doesn't work - but since its the same as on www.928gt.com - a pass on that one).

The '78-'84 should have 22 relays in 2 rows with the numbers ascending from the left across both rows not in direct sequence... (see photo below)

The '85-'88 should have 26 relays in 2 rows with the numbers ascending from the left across both rows not in direct sequence... (see diagram below)

I hope someone removes these pages - the pictures and many functional assignments are just wrong... and could possibly cause significant damage if followed...

I'm not sure of the source of these - but quite bizzarre!

Jim Bailey - you out there...?

I think they're from the tech spec book. I tried using it before for my Euro and found it to be wrong.

Very kind of you to make this known to all, Alan.

Jim works those banker's hours - the door is hittin' him in the butt at 5:01.

I'm sure he'll jump on this when the bank opens in the morning.

Thanks for the info Alan. The picture I have is exactly the same as the one you posted, but as you noted in the other thread the list of callouts below the picture is for a '79, and the 928intl diagrams are stranger still. So does anyone have a relay diagram that actually matches up for the different years? Why would the manuals have such a disconnected diagram?

The chart information came directly from Porsche in a parts and technical reference manual.

Jim: You guys need to get better sources! And, thanks to Allan for trying to get things right.

Generally, I only look at the information online that shows which relay number is responsible for which function, if the car's own fuse/relay card is not available, then I look at the CE panel itself, as the relay positions are indicated to the left of each relay on the panel.
