Clutch Fan Silicon Fluid
I recently went to Toyota to buy some Silicon fluid to replace in my cooling fan clutch (Canada). They were unable to help me. Does anyone know the part number for this fluid from Toyota, or another source I can buy it from? I know I read an article on this topic, but can't find it. Thanks.

I think it was in 928 International, I will check my catalog and see if they have the part number in the article. Or else check online to see if they have the article there, I thought it was for their late 80's early 90's pickups.

I might be wrong but shouldn't it be silicone oil. Silicon is sand. makes great computor chips. I put this oil in my 78 two years ago and it made a big improvement. Fan clutch is much firmer when hot.

Thanks for the response "Snowball". I'm going to try and get some from the Canadian Dealer. Having the part number makes all the difference for the parts guy who had no idea what I was talking about.

Gary,
..you are right about that one...I was lucky at my local Toyota dealer, there was an old guy there behind the parts counter that knew exactly what I was asking for...and why!
Good luck on your next visit to dealer..

Snowball is right about the part number. I did this procedure about 2 months ago.
The toyota dealer i went to had to order it. About 10 dollars per bottle (18 ml).
Ounce for ounce this stuff is probable more expensive than bootleg absinth.
i documented the procedure on my website if you wanna take a look. Its on the fan clutch rehab pages.
you might wanna get the $60 belt tension tool and do your belt check while you got real good access to it. (also documented on my web site.)
PS - one thing i dont mention on my website is that refilling the clutch is time intensive. you need a lot of patience.

Guess what, the toyota parts guy punched in "Snowball's" number and it worked!!! He had no clue what the stuff was for and has never ordered it, ever!!! No wonder, they would rather sell the new part. Anyway thanks again. Plus it was only about $5.50 Canadian a bottle. Thats about $3.50US.
