Post Suspension Woes.

I just compleated getting new steel ball joint, new tires, and tryed to get the Lawn Ornament aligned. (the Lawn Ornament is a US spec. 83 928S)

Not only was the shop I went to sorry, but I got more suprises.

I need new bushins I belive for the upper control arms, tie rods, and my steering rack as a bit of play in it, plus it leaks just a bit. (not to mention the bent tie rod...)

Has anyone delt with non-rubber bushings? If so, what do you recomend? I'm thinking about trying to get something urathane because it'll last longer. The first place I found was NOLTEC. Are they any good? I haven't realy found anyone else, but I haven't looked realy hard. I didn't see such bushing on the 928intl web site, but I could have missed 'em. How much do bushings normaly cost?

Also, has anyone replaced the seals and bushings on the steering rack? If so, how difficult is it? There is no decernable play in my steering wheel, but the steering wracks leaks just a bit, and the tie rods are a bit lose.

Last but not least, what is the procidure to replace the rubber boots on the upper a-arm for the frount suspension.

This car is just a string of less than wounderful suprises. I guess it's all my fault for not looking into it harder, but it feels like about the time I get one thing fixed, I find two more broken. My to do list has gotten much much longer than I anticipated. It's OK because I budgeted more than enough money "just in case" but I didn't seriously expect to use it! by the time I get through, I'm gonna have a new car!

Search on 'Steering Rack' and you will find info regarding this.

...........Temp gauge went to red, guess I'll put in a new thermostat, ooooh look at those hoses might as well do all those too. Man, clamps could use replacing. Let me get under here and drain that anti-freeze, wow, ground strap is about to fall apart and what use to be my alternator shield (mini-earlymodel bellypan) is torn to s$%t so I gotta replace that. Did I mention I was redoing my interior when all this happened??

Nice to know we're all going through this together!! <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

Could be worse!
My old man has three walls of his den covered with beautiful Kentucky Rifles.
One or two of the lead shot molds are a bit oversized and when we smoke em' once a year there are ... problems.
Finding the correct factory gold plated plumbing for a Deusenberg SJ is a ... problem.
Minor things such as weeping like a whipped slave over a complete (unexpected) 928 suspension overhaul, becoming keeper of that arcane never to be used again disassembly information, and owner of special tools that the FBI has classified as, shall we say, Sado-Masochistic Sex Toys.
Hah!!! Such things are inconsequential.
If I might be so bold as to suggest; If you were to be abused by a woman ... pick Sharon Stone over Phillis Diller. Which would you rather crawl back to?
Same for these gorgeous 928's!!!
Whip me, beat me, I need love,
spank me with ...your leather glove.
Really, ViribusUnits, I think you are on to something here, when all else fails these puppies would make great lawn ornaments.
Thank God for the Rennlist,

I figure I need to make my Ornament properly mobile so I can mow the Lawn properly.
