Hello all,

I have a new thermostat and fan switch coming to me tomorrow. Any words of wisdom on changing these out? What to look for, what to do, what not to do?

Thanks,

Hi Hai,

Sorry my web site didnt help you out. Right after i did the clutch refil i changed the thermostat. Big differnce between the old unit and the new one. The new one was much stiffer. One tip - flush/drain the old fluid first and replace with Autobahn or Dexcool. These are non-phosporous coolants and are safe for our radiators. I got my Autobahn coolant (its blue, not green) the local Porsche/Audi dealer, but i here you can get it at VW dealers too. I would love to find a non dealer source for this stuff. Like Snowball says, get the new o-ring too. After you get it all the fluid in, dont forget to bleed the air out of the system.

Cool

Thank you to all!!!

I put in the new fan clutch, 75C thermostat and a 75C thermoswitch along with doing a flush and fill and she is finally staying at a normal temperature.

Thanks again.
