Default Good video showing weight vs HP contest at Thunderhill last season.

I posted this on the NSX vs 928 thread.

Its some video from the supercharged S2000 chasing me, and eventually passing me and the 550hp camaro for the win. It does show the 928 handling. Pretty amazing for a car that weighs about 3-400lbs more. He does a good job with the videos and his on screen commentary. I also like his telemetry visuals.
He was about 310rwhp in this race, and not up toward 330rwhp. I think im still near 300 to 310rwhp, based on a dyno run after this event. (still wondering if the dyno operator tied down the car too tight and lost 10-15hp )

anway, check it out:

Thats exactly how I would expect the S2000 chassis to fair in a heated race - Trust, Trust, Trust OOPS, Can't trust. It deals differently, it seems, on almost every lap.

Were you working hard to keep him behind you? Is he not as good of a driver as you?

Does he know you're are getting a bigger engine?

Yes, he is getting pretty good in that thing. He has always been one of the better S2000 drivers, and has really focused on racing over the past 2 seasons. Now, he is extremely competitive, both in laying down a good lap time and racing in traffic. (two slightly different skill sets) Usually it was a case where, at tracks like T-hill he would be all over me in the short sections and i would get space on the sweepers and straights. now,(well, then just after he put on the blower) we are even on the straights and he has the advantage on the tight turns. I wasnt working as hard as I could as both of us were coming from the back of the pack. he was on a mission, i was on a points goal. (just finish ahead of the vet, and near the top 3-4 which i did.) Our times in that battle were in the 2:02high range, he ended up getting in the Low 2:02s, slightly slower of my best time of 2:01.6. But, i dont think i could have held him off for the entire race, even if I tried. as it was, he passed me at the end of the short section and there was little i could have done about it. Interesting, that in that race, the vet, camaro and I had the same lap time of 2:02.8, to rylan's 2:02.2. Interesting, he still has his fastest time without the blower!! (of in the 2:00.xx range) that should change this season i would imagine.

No, he doesnt know about the engine. (well, he has heard rumors) Its going to be funny to show up with this thing and blow by him like the Camaro !! (yes, that camaro is funny! it is a beautiful and fast car!)

AT Sears this weekend, i suspose he will have a second on me, just like he did at Laguna at the Finale. however, how long can an engine last like this? remember, that 330rwhp is like our engines pushing 1000hp!! (he also has to drive the blower, adding forces on that crank and the engine. )

Its a fast little car and it will be interesting to see how dependable it is over the season. Heck, im wondering how mine will be as well. after all this is season 7!! (knock knock!)

You need to schedule some headwork to get the most of this stroker, especially since you will be only racing from 4500-6500. Steal power from 2k and maybe 3k so you can have it up there at the 5k area.

The S2000 motor is a killer piece. I am at 73k, and it spends most of its time at 6k and above. It kills oil, from fuel dilution and shear, per my oil reports from Blackstone.

Technically, I would think he would blow something in the tinker-toy trans before he blows the motor. I am sure his is using racing gas, so he wouldn't have much detonation, which would kill it quickly.

interesting! We will see over this season.
Yes, it is not the strongest platform around for sure. he has already lost 2 wheels during races, and one most notable was on another S2000 i saw on TV for the Honda cup series. I forget the driver, but at Willow springs, it lost the entire wheel and hub coming out of the omega turn. in our grand finale, we had no idea that Rylan could actually win the championship by finishing ahead of the Vet and me. on the last lap, its wheel fell off and he spun out into turn 2 sand traps. just think if that happened on the straights

We might have to "bribe" MK to come to Got Guts with us....... Lets see.....$235 divided by 4 is under $60 each....... I'll kick in $60 just to ride as a passenger and have him "instruct" me while I'm driving!! Shoot I'd pay for $120 for that!

Imagine having Dennis and MK there....now that would be sweet.....it would suck for everyone else in the "A" group..since they'd be getting PASSED all day!

I did. very strange. valve guides?? however it didnt do it the next lap.

Ive also been seen smoking if i sliglty overfill the oil , but that hasnt happened in a few years. this could have been part of the problem. I didnt do any qualifying, i drove up just for the race ,and probably added a quart or so to top the oil off. I wonder what could cause this
