Post Pre-87 body kit (NRE Automobile Accessories)

<a href="http://www.nrauto.com/product_body.asp?id=47&makeid=Porsche&type=2" target="_blank">http://www.nrauto.com/product_body.asp?id=47&makeid=Porsche&type=2</a>

I'm considering this kit, mainly because I want the S4 style wing and I like the side skirts. Anyone had experience with NR? $1395 seems reasonable considering the cost of a replacement front spoiler and conversion to S4 wing.

They also have other 928 kits if anyone is interested.

S4 aero Kit - $1195

S4 update kit - $2990

S4 Widebody Kit - $3995

OT, Graham's Six Grapes Porto is very nice if you enjoy a fuity port (my glass is almost empty). Also, metallica's new album is very old school - Ride the Lightening and Justice flavored. Worth the $13 it cost, comes with a DVD of rehersals and a code to get you into the Metallicavault.com website.

I've sent an email asking for additional pics of an uninstalled Aero Kit for the 78-86 cars. If I get any I'll post them. Specifically, I asked if the $1395 kit replaces the front bumper cover or if it reuses the existing cover, also the same with the rear hatch. A new front bumper cover runs in the neighborhood of $900, and I've got 3 used ones that are un-useable due to "waving" at the mounting points (one is camoflauge!) At this point, I've resided myself to wearing a bra (on the car, not myself) until I can resolve my bumper cover problem. My car is black, so a black bra doesn't stand out too much.

If I get this kit, then I'll have a used front spoiler available.......

Front and rear bumper covers are not included. I can also tell you that installation of this stuff is not for the faint hearted.

If you want to keep the original front bumper cover style, I don't know of anyone who makes a reproduction. You may, however, be able to have one of your existing covers restored. I've seen bumper covers that I would trash restored to "like new." Check with a body shop or two to find out who is good in town.

Another source for glass 928 pieces is American International Racing: <a href="http://www.americaninternationalracing.com/" target="_blank">A.I.R.</a>

I'm actually really surprised someone has not made molds of all the stock parts, like bumper covers, fenders, etc, and made replacements out of fiberglass. It is much harder to sculpt something nice as a body kit. But to just make a mold of an existing part is pretty simple by comparison. Considering how many people here seem to want to keep their cars stock, and yet have issues with the cost of some of the parts, I would think that one of these fiberglass places would do a booming business if they sold inexpensive fiberglass replacements for stock panels...

KB,
I bought the wing from them. It was made by West Wing. The wing mounts to the outside of the hatch rails. You have to drill holes through the hatch in order to mount it. I removed my S wing, if you do the same plan on spending at least another 200 dollars for the rear window moldings, since you can’t use the originals. Call west wing maybe you can save some money.Good luck.

I have an S4 add on to my 86.5 which was done by a PO. The biggest problem I have encountered is in the light fixtures.
<img src="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/DSC00015.JPG" alt=" - " />
As an example the S4 has a complete wiring harness to manage the multiple lights that is not present in the S3. Consequently the wiring adaptation done was a poor hack job, resulting in lights that may or may not function. Also the light sockets used are not OEM and don't properly fit the light fixture. Make sure they have this part of the conversion covered properly.

I am going to try to mate the correct S4 harness to the S3 wiring to see if I can correct these irritant problems. Removing and playing around with the current set up has become a real PITA.

On that one body kit site, they list the bumpers as "composite" and other parts as fiberglass. I wonder what they mean by composite? I'd love to get ahold of a fiberglass rear bumper cover, so I could make my own tail-light enclosures out of fiberglass, and graft them in. Grafting to urethane is no fun!

I would go with factory parts. S4 front and rear bumpers go for under $300 on ebay all the time. I got my factory GTS bumper for $250, two years ago!!
