Where did the picture of the green one come from? I ask because the display cases shown in your picture are not the ultra-cool Porsche-certified display cases they used at the hotel at Euro 928-2002. :-)

That model was so sweet, it was the only piece of work I ever ended up putting my fist through. I was absolutely heartbroken that my brush-on (!) silver paint turned out horribly. I was a dumb kid and didn't realize you're supposed to use SPRAY paint on these things...oh, and painting the body first rather than last would have been a big help, too. What a waste of a great kit!

OK, who'll start the petition to get Revell (or whomever) to do another run of those kits?

Yes he was into the Rothman's but that was a sweet car. The picture I posted is from Euro 928 2001 in Luxembourg. That was truely an excellent event. I dare say there were more models represented than in the cases at 2002. I'll post the other pictures I have, which revealed there were two of the Jumbo Revell models there.

Chuck,

I've collected many 928 models and diecasts. There
are a lot of them out there, but they've been out
of production for a while. To see the my models
go to <a href="http://sis125.berkeley.edu/928/models.html" target="_blank">http://sis125.berkeley.edu/928/models.html</a>
For diecast I have 3 pages, <a href="http://sis125.berkeley.edu/928/diecast.html" target="_blank">diecast,</a>
<a href="http://sis125.berkeley.edu/928/scale1-64.html" target="_blank">hotwheels types</a>
and <a href="http://sis125.berkeley.edu/928/motorized.html" target="_blank">motorized.</a>

Dan,

I do have a 1/16 scale Revell, is that the one you're
talking about?

If anyone has a Testor's S4 kit or and/or a Revell 1:14 kit available, please contact me.

Thanks

Hey George, that has to be it!

My neurons started buzzing with recognition when I saw the picture. So it's only 1/16. As the 928 is 175" long (pretty sad I have that figure memorized), the model should be nearly 11" long. Still great and easily the biggest 928 kit out there.

Could you pull a product number off the box? I wonder if Revell has access to any of these in storage. Worth looking into maybe.

George,

What a great collection of cars. Looks like I have a ways to go.

Hey...Let's start a bidding war on your 1/16 model <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />

Check out web site below. He has a 1/24 scale 928 showing. No experience with them yet, but I did order one and am waiting for it to arrive.

may try <a href="http://www.diecasts.com" target="_blank">www.diecasts.com</a>

Enter Porsche 928 in the search box

Good and bad news...

The bad:
I found out today, that the German Post has restructured their postage fees for international mail. This hits me with an almost $2.00 increase when buying Herpa models from Germany. In other words: the models will become more expensive pretty soon.

The good:
I received a collection today, and now have the following available again:

- Herpa 928 S4, highly detailed Personal Collection, silver/black in original plexiglas display case and cardboard box, mint condition

- Herpa 928 S4, pace car "ONS Streckensicherung", in original plexiglas display case and cardboard box, mint condition

I'm also willing to part with one of my Herpa 911 turbo models, highly detailed Personal Collection, either black metallic/light grey or slate grey metallic/black in original plexiglas display case and cardboard box, mint condition.

Curious...is this model rare or worth that much?

Dan,

The number on the side of the box is 7484. The
box says the model is 10 1/4" long. I haven't
opened the box yet, it's still in the original
shrink wrap. The copyright on the side is 1981.

Jerry:

There is one more red 928 model I had forgotten to mention. It's from Mattel - HotWheels, in 1:25 scale, made in Italy. It has folding front seats, and a strange silver steering wheel. It's the only 928 I've ever seen with a 4-cylinder carburated engine under the hood... ;-)

Thanks for the postitive comments, Tim! I'm glad I am providing a service that you and many others like!

Here is my latest trick: I was able to secure five very rare PostIt notepads with a photo of the 928. These were apparently used internally at Porsche - I don't know, if they were ever sold to the public. I have never seen them anywhere else. They are approximately 4" wide, 3" high, and 3/8 of an inch thick. The set was prohibitively expensive, and I see little chance to get more of these. I'd be willing to part from two or three of them, but you'd have to bribe me with $12 for each one...
