Default a couple of quick questions...

Does anyone know what the purpose of this is ? (a drain ?)
http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/928_010a.jpg

Why doesn't the PET5 component look like this one? (It fails to show the arrowed part)

(This is the first time I'm uploading photos, so if I screw it up, bear with me.)
Thanks
Lex

Okay, that wasn't bad, but how can I get the pictures to just appear without anyone having to click on a hyperlink? Thanks

Just saw the Novice 928 question thread. I'll go there next time.

For the drain. I don't think it has a purpose. I did read a thread where there was some discussion (a modification in either venting or return of blow by oil) of using it for some type of return to the crankcase. But not sure.

That's where the throttle body of 85s and 86s (and possibly older) gets bolted to the block.

Default PET5 illustration

I was referring to the picture download. I would still appreciate any help with my questions.

This is the a blowup of part of the illustration from PET5.

My S4 is a MY 87. Next to the part number it states 88-, so I'm thinking that this piece may have changed in MY 88 and since the original bracket is no longer available, it isn't shown (?).
In any case, I'm trying to find out where the other end of the 6" hose that attaches to my bracket goes. Any help would be appreciated. Since it may no longer be needed, I'd have to address the other (open) end. Thanks

Huh? Mine just has the two mounts on the side of the V, nothing in the center to mount.

The throttle body on a '85/'86 doesn't have a center bolt at the front of the engine. Are you sure it's not some kind of plug left over from the casting process?

It's the same as the knock sensor holes so I think it is related to them. Maybe the original plan was for 1 or 3?

I have my engine apart as well and the Throttle cable pulley is exactly as yours is. (87' S4)

If you will go to page 24-216 of the WSM the diagram indicates that on the threaded side of the tube is the direct line from the fuel tank and the other side going to the Fuel Regulator.
I can't remember when I took it off, but on the "direct line to the fuel tank, in the diagram (b)" this may actually be the feed from the fuel cooler.

I checked the line from the fuel cooler and I am fairly certian it is the line that connects to the threaded part. See the "U" shaped hose at the very bottom of the cooler.

the hole that is pointed to in the first pic is not for the mount screw of the elbow of the throttle body - that mount screw is further towards the back of the V (at least on 86's - I'm in there right now, and one of the attachement points is the bottom screw/bolt). I have that same unused hole in my V floor at that same place. Not sure what it's for. What are those sensors? I don't have them on my engine? Something added for the post 86?
