Here's a another pic. I had more, a few of the after dark activities, but they were so blurry.......damn I need to get my camera fixed. The only pic of me.

Mike has some, maybe he will post them.

I don't know why, but we didn't take any pics showing a step by step on how to do this. I'm doing the same thing over at Rog's this week, I'll try to remember to take my camera and do it then.

Default Here are some of the pics i took

Sorry for the blurry ones. The night setting holds the shutter open for a while and it is hard to get a clear shot.

Why are John's knees so dirty?

The last pic is from left to right:

Just finished up Ang's car ('90) and took it for a test drive. She got new black Boges and SS brake lines. Big difference in overall performance. Big part of her handling issues were the bad shocks. Suspension has not settled down yet, but I could tell a huge difference in the few miles I drove.

She's been suffering from a soft brake pedal and after a few bleedings that didn't make any difference I put the SS lines on and there is a noticable difference in the amount of pressure I have to put on the pedal. It's not as good as the '88 but much better.

Now to get the garage cleaned up.

Sean,

What do you mean not as good? My brake pedal feels a little soft come to think of it and its got all new fluid thanks to Dr. Bob as of 2 years ago.

I think there is some truth in the idea of hose flexing leading to a soft or spongy pedal. Is the brake force needed to apply more in tune with the car's performance. I dont know how to say this correctly, but i was thinking of braided lines but dont want the car to require Formula 1 levels of pressure to engage the brakes. But i also dont want to press the pedal far before i get pressure to the wheels.

Care to expand a bit on the SS lines, what do those cost anyway?

I think the cost of the SS lines are around $100.00, but I've not seen a bill from Roger in a while, much less from this weekend.

I guess the only way to describe the difference between mine and Ang's... I touch the brakes on mine and I start to slow, I push a bit more and I'm stopped. Ang's has always felt "soft" to me, as in 1/4 pedal and the brakes engage, 1/2 pedal with a bit more force and she stops like I imagine she should.

Now after driving the '89 (that you drove) cross country, it feels 1/2 between mine and the way hers feel. Don't have a better way of describing it. After the SS lines, her car stops like the '89 does.

I think our next session should be a drive/evaluate how each others cars feel, with critiques after the fact. (oh boy, what fun) LOL, that way we get to drive mulitple cars and get a feel how each one drives. I'd like to drive one with Koni's (johns), one like Jim M's with Eibachs/Bilstiens and massive brakes, and drive yours just so I can say I drove a GT.

yeah i realized you didnt even hear the basslink

we will have to fix that. I too want other people to drive my car, but maybe after my cable adjustment adventure. Come to think of it, i know the full throttle map isnt engaging because it should feel like that 89, mine doesnt do that. I will dig deep into this as i suspect misaligned cables are the issue.

So many things to do now

1) Replace throttle cable and adjust linkages and cables to open and close fully
2) start and finish pod repair and reinstall
3) clean, condition and recolor leather seats, door panels so on and so forth

Now i am also thinking of going with the new brake lines (18 year old lines are due really just because of age), then maybe going for 993 TT rotors on aluminum hubs with 965 front calipers.

THE FUN NEVER ENDS!

Told you that selling was not an option. Move up here and get out of that backwards college town.

We messed with everyones cars but yours. That makes me feel a bit down, hell you drove the furthest.

Are you sure that you have a cable issue? Did you check the routing under the intake and make sure it's not rubbing against the hose clamps on that wheel? I had that issue. When that gets resolved, your car will be a beast.

I need to let you drive mine in order for you to feel what I do on the brakes

Send the pod to Rob Bud, he will switch it out quickly, no year wait time on it, that's my plan for dash and pod.

yeah but then the pod will be leather and the dash plastic. Ideally i want the dash and pod and lower dash and door armrests all leather but cant swing that all right now, so i need to fix the plastic look for now. Dont worry, i have an early pod to try my experiments on so if i really mess it up i wont bother trying to do it to the rarer airbag pod which is harder to replace.

My cable through the firewall is frayed, well the sheath is, so the adjustment for it is broken basically. The cable is cheap and the cable from the linkage to the buterfly is pretty new so it will be yet another system on the car thats completely new.

Yeah i will keep the car, i will still keep the ad up cause, well its FREE at this point. But i will start working again at some point and save my pennies for the TT stuff and have an absolute terrorist on my hands!

okay, so does anyone have a decent set of used springs leftover that will fit an 86.5, and that are still in good shape? I'll be putting Boges on, and my mechanic suggested springs, but I don't want to "spring" for new ones (I'm not performance driving this car), but mine feel very unsprung so he is likely correct in his assessment. Do you guys suggest spring replacement when replacing the shocks on the coil over system?

Ed, Eibachs for our cars are very cheap. If you want stock ones, there is really no telling what kind of shape they would be in,if you buy them used. Roger has a very good price in Eibachs.
