Nice Johnny Cash reference, thinking about it, why isn't there a song about the 928? Any volunteers? <img src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" border="0" alt="[blabla]" />

Since we have gone completely off topic, I saw in concert 2 years ago, at a music festival, the guy who played guitar on the original recording with the Commander Cody band. His name escapes me, but I could find it. He did a very cool thing where, in the song, "the caddy pulled over and let me by", he did change-ups and played guitar in about 20 different styles, for example he would do Hendrix licks and say "Jimi pulled over and let me by", folowed by Van Halen styles, Roy Orbison, Devo, B52's, Spice Girls, etc. It was nuts. It was fun to watch him play so many diverse styles and sounds with no pedals. He would start, and you could tell who he was goning to say let him by almost immediately.
Oh yeah, sorry, this is the 928 forum. oops.

Continued OT-
Commander Cody ATLPA & Asleep at the Wheel covered it, but the original was by Charlie Ryan who wrote it.
greg- I think that wild guitar version is by Bill Kirchen, original guitarist w/ CC & the Lost Planet... as you said! (Great, I thought it was Junior Brown). I've been meaning to track that cd down but had forgotten- thanks for reminding me

928benz,
I have a 928 and a supercharged Mercedes 560 SEC. The 928 uses a Mercedes tranny but I'd bet you already knew that. Anyway, I would have your fluid and filter changed at the dealership or do it yourself. Make sure the fluid is not above the high mark or below the low mark, after you warm-up the tranny, or your trans will not kick down properly or not at all.

Donald,
You are right, it is Bill Kirchen. The name was escaping me earlier. I saw him backed by "too much fun". I have also seen Junior Brown perform and he is great. Has that special guitar he invented. Combo reg. guitar and steel guitar. Junior is cool.
O.K. back to Porsche stuff.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the tip on tranny fluid. I decided to have the filter changed and fluid flushed while my mechanic is doing the T-belt and water pump. I'm hoping that kickdown while be better after the service. It's nice to know you also own one of the greatest flagship benzes ever. The 126 body style was the greatest. Solid engineering. I always wanted to purchase a 560SEC, but was addicted to the 928 after one drive. Wow, you've got a supercharged one? I know it's off topic of the 928, but how has your experience been with it? I once considered a 560 with a 500sl transplant like Satish's car on mbcoupes.com. Have you checked out that site? Awesome info and pics of people's SECs. As for me, I think I'm pretty happy with my diesel benz for fuel economy on weekdays and 928 for romping weekends. Send some pics if you can of that Monster Benz you've got. I am curious to see what you've done to it.

928benz,
I'm very familiar with Satish's transplant and I am a member of the MBcoupes email list. My 560 SEC has a Mosselman supercharger kit and uses a Paxton blower for the boost. The added power the blower provides is amazing. However, the Mercedes doesn't come close to the speed of my heavily modified 928.
