Ebay Alternator
I am happy to report that after five months of waiting, my mechanic is working on my car
Im very please about that. One of the issues I have is I need to replace the alternator in my 86.5. I found this alternator on ebay, and I was hoping for your opinion

I believe the original alt that I have is 90 amps? I understand the extra amps will help my sluggish electric windows? Perhaps a stronger stereo, once installed?
Sorry for the noob questions, I am not a mechanic...just a bean counter.
I also need to get the alternator/steering pump bracket as well. I managed to crack the one I have. Any ideas on where to find one?
Thanks everyone for your help

I have the bracket as well.

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?

This is one of those WYAIT dances - take one of these pretty spring days and go thru the internal door stuff in detail. Cures a lot of minor irritations...
- Clean and lube window lift motor/gearbox.
- Clean and lube window lift mechanism.
- Replace nylon wear pieces on central tube of window mechanism, or add several nylon wire ties.
- Check window guides, replace felt if necessary.
- Clean and lube door mechanism.
- Clean and check both lights in each door.
- Check the speaker and wiring.
- Check the plastic water shield, repair as required.
- Repair or replace all broken/missing door panel retention studs and other fasteners
- Clean and lube door check strap, replace or shim as required.
- Clean inside bottom of door, clear drains.
- Add soundproofing/sound absorption materials.
I'm sure that there are other WYAITs, but these are the ones that I can think of at the moment.
I wish i saw this 5 days ago. I just finally buttoned up my door panels after completing the speaker install.
I previously had an issue with my passenger side window that when i raised it it would kink down slightly and not close without then lowering it and using my free hand to help guide it into the channel at the top of the door.
I bought the round roller and pin cause i thought it was that, but It turned out one of the bolts to the guide was missing and the whole window was loose. I found the bolt at the bottom of the door, replaced and now all is well.
I didnt however pay any attention to lubing the guides or the entire system. Which fi had to do it over again i would have. That being said, what do you use for lubing all those parts. Is there one specific type of grease or something, what do you use inside the door?

Your right Wally, I had planned on getting into the windows issue once I have the car back. Im having to replace the alternator/bracket because it was hit while driving on my wonderful mountian roads
Banged up the alternator and cracked the bracket.I saw the ebay alternator and thought it maybe a better alt. than the 90 amp that came with the car.
