WTB an S4
With my over-a-year deployment here in Afghanistan almost over. I am looking to get into another 928. I have to have a 5-speed and it needs to be an S4. I'm not looking to spend over 14k either. I know these cars are out there, it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
If anyone can point me in the right direction or knows of someone that might be willing to part with their S4 it would great if you could let me know.
Thanks,
Jon Boyd

that a nice car, but way over $14k. truth be told, if you get a 5spd S4 for $14k or less, you'll more than likely be sinking a few grand into it right from the get go.

Why not get a 5-speed '86?
Properly tuned, they make more power than a S4 (nearly as much as a GT - same cams). They have the same trans, suspension, brakes, exhaust, floorpan, conveniences, etc., without the extra weight of the S4 'body kit'.

Jon,
Congratulations and heart-felt thank-you for your service overseas.
I would second the '86 idea. I bought an 86.5 5 speed about 9 months ago for about $4500, new clutch, seals, brakes, tires, boots, cam belt, waterpump, carpet, respray back bumper and chips. Now I've spent $14K but it feels like a new car (almost!) and drives like an S4.
Just my $9.28 worth of advice.

Don't get me wrong. I would love an 86.5, but it's just as hard to find those I think than it is S4 5-speeds. I used to have an '85, but it was an Auto. I think I should probably expand my search to include nice 86.5 cars as well. 14k for an 86.5 seems kinda steep though doesn't it? I guess I shouldn't really complain, i'll be putting money into the car one way or another in the form of a supercharger and other stuff!

Jon, I found my 88s4 one year ago today! I found it cheap in the local raleigh paper, i was the first one to get there then the fighting began when a second guy showed up. I prevailed! The exterior paint was in rough shape, but it started and ran fine. Been repairing the normal stuff and learing about the car every since, but I haven't seen much of her lately......she getting a fresh paint job.
btw, i really appreciate what your doing for our county.
