Arrow For Sale: 1987 928 S4, 49K Miles

The car is an early VIN 0110 Piston Squirter with folding wing, 5Spd and LSD.
- Current Mileage: 49,000
- Exterior: Marine Blue Metallic
- Interior: Navy Blue and Champagne

Modifications Include:
- Drilled Front Rotors
- Koni Adjustable Shocks - Orange
- Short Shifter
- Professionally Installed Stereo
- Chrome D90 Wheels
- Carl Faucets Ball Cup

The car is in excellent mechanical condition with the only deferred maintenance items being a clutch slave cylinder, 4-way vacuum "T" and a new vacuum check valve. A/C blows cool under 4K RPM but gets warm above that which is due to the vacuum leak. I have pages of records for the work done in the past three years which address nearly all of the major and minor items. A new battery was installed in 2006.

Recent R&R on 11/07 Includes:
- Steering Rack
- Steering Rack Bushings
- Left/Right Tie Rods
- Four Wheel Alignment
- Timing Belt Done in Late 2005 and Tension and Condition Checked
- Motor Mounts
- Oil Pan Gasket
- New Alternator Gasket
- Several other small parts replaced to address typical 928 weak spots
- Synthetic 5W40 M1 Oil
- Synthetic M1 Gear Oil
- Synthetic M1 Rear Diff Oil
- Prestone Long Life Coolant
- Synthetic Break Fluid

Brake pads will probably need replacement in 10 - 15K miles. The drivers front wheel leaks air at the valve stem, this can be addressed easily with a new stem which I can take care of. I'm not aware of any other issues with the car. Buyers are welcome to have a PPI although I would ask that that car be sent via flatbed, I won't drive the car in rain, snow or salty roads.

The interior is mostly leather with vinyl on the dash and center console only. Overall interior is in good to excellent condition. The drivers outer/upper seat bolster is worn through and needs to be repaired or replaced, the pod has a hairline crack but it isn't pushed up and with the warmer temps has become less visible.

All body panels including front/rear bumpers are original with exception to the hood which is from another car. All serial number stickers are in place for the body panels as evidence of originality. Exterior has typicaly wear tear to the front bumper and rocker panels but overall the paint is in excellent condition.

All the tools are in their correct location and in good condition. The spare tire and pump are in excellent condition, pictures available.

This car would make a good show and shine car and a weekend driver. I've driven it long distances (600 miles) nearly non stop without a single issue and the best part is I felt relaxed and exhilrated after the drive.

Definitely worth a look if you're after a reliable, excellent condition 928.

Asking $18,700 OBO

Pictures to follow shortly.......

If you know anyone looking please send them the link, they won't be disappointed.

Same car.

Odometer hasn't been rolled back, the entire pod was changed when the car had 12 - 18k miles (can't remember the exact number) so when I put up this post I posted what the actual mileage was. Current seller has to add the additional mileage to the current miles to make it accurate. It's a good car for anyone looking for a driver.

What does a very good condition black on black '87 5-speed with 70k miles on go for nowadays? Don't worry -- not selling mine, but might want to buy another one. There are enough irons in the fire that these engines need cars... LSD and no-sunroof would be big plusses.

Tuomo that really depends on condition and maintenance history. It could be anywhere from $12K - $18K.

just out of curiosity, are these "piston squirters" the little pipes at the bottom of the cylinder that literally squirt oil onto the bottom of the pistons?
If so I never knew there was a 928 that had that! Would be perfect for turbo/supercharging!

I believe only the very early 87's had it. If I remember right only about the first 500 engines but I am not sure on exact production #'s. The theory is that Porsche had plans to boost the 928 engine but then scrapped the plan.
