Good Evening to All,
I'm about to remove the pod for the first time to clean the contacts, and fix the odometer (I've done that before on another model). My question is:
My turn signals won't cancel unless the turn requires much turning of the wheel. This happens in both directions. Any idea of what to look for and fix while I'm there?
Thanks,
Chris

one quick fix that may work is to put a thin layer of electrical tape on the tab on the inside of the steering wheel hub. The tab is what disengages the turn signal as the wheel returns to the nuetral position, and over time, the wear causes it to become less effective.
this fix worked for me.

How does it fail? Exactly the same in both directions?
A permanent fix usually requires a replacement nylon part. You'd need to source one from a used turn signal switch - any porsche type that looks approx the same (924, 944, 968, 928 any year, any 911/964's through at least 993's) will have the right part - but of course try to validate self cancelling still works...
There are other more complex failure modes - but with a good used unit you can transfer those parts too - mine failed like this and needed significant transplants.
You will need to drill out the rivets on both the donor and your combos switch. Reassembly is quite possible and you can secure with self tapping screws - but you need to use countersunk screws and countersink holes into the metal cover plate.
Quite a bit of work... but doable
Of course if you can find an exactly matching replacement part you can just retrofit the whole thing! much easier - plug & play.
