I'm thinking of installing a pair of Infinity 10" subs in my 81 OB. Has anyone done this? I'd also like to see pics of the different sub boxes others have used. Has anyone ever found premade boxes for the 928's?

the guys in Utah have a really nice box for a single 10" that goes in the spare tire well
there is no other box made to fit 2 10" subs for a 928 specifically. Thats so much space that you would just make your own anyway or buy one premade and throw it in the car. I dont like the look of those, i think it makes a mess of the interior.
I just added a Basslink and i love it. Its a single 10" with amp and fits in the spare tire well. Although its higher then i would like. (Thinking of ways to fix that as we speak.)
I guess if you want your car to literally thump then get a pair of subs, the single infinity does it for me. But i dont have a highly tuned ear so who knows. I will say the sound difference between a sub and no sub is HUGE!

do a search
i forget what their name is, motorsports SLC or something.
Its a nice box and i think its $250 plus you need an amp and sub.
I went with the basslink for $130 shipped, cant beat that. Its amazing how much is missing when you have no sub at all.

FWIW I just bought a 8" Bazooka from Circuit City for $99. Powered, nice sound etc. It took about 15 minutes to run RCA and remote power from my headunit and mounted it behind the left rear seat. Direct power from the battery is recommended (fused don't worry). I may shorten it to it's the width of the seat but for the money and convenience...good package.

its pretty easy. Pull out the front mat and along the frame rail on the drivers side is a bunch of wiring. I ran my RCA cables and remote turn on lead through there and then under the rear seat into the back. Its totally hidden and really probably only took 15 minutes.
Test and make sure your RCA cable works. I wired mine up only to find the cable was crap. And make sure you run a remote power turn on wire also.

We have one 8" in our 78 USA and it's plenty of bass for rock & roll. The PIAB (Porsche in a box) came with a professionally manufactured enclosure that take the place of the tool kit panel. I'll try to find out who makes them if you want.

Thanks for the tip on testing the cable. I hadn't thought of that. That would be a major PITA to get it all routed and then have to do it over.
(Sorry for the hijack. If it means anything, I'm doing a 'rear seat delete' and I'm about a week away from showing my version of a 10" sub enclosure).

Rixter how many farad is your capacitor? I put my 2 mtx 8" truck boxes in today teporarily. I have a 400 watt 4-channel running my 4 infinty 6 1/2's and a 800 watt 2 channel running my subs. I notice when I come to a stop I don't have enough power being supplied. I was thinking about adding a capacitor to help with this problem or do I need a higher amp alternator. The alternator is new as of a month ago. Does anyone else with a big system notice this problem? I notice a drop in volume at a stop once the motor idles down.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look. I know there are a few removable panels along there (e-brake, then the one that the seat belt comes out of) but in front of that, I didn't think there was room. Are you saying it goes under the carpet along there?
