Your jumping to conclusions again. I wasn't referring to just your thread, I was posting about the overall way this forum seems to be going.

Since you brought it up, lets use your thread as an example. Greg simply asked a question..you jumped all over it as an attack and then stated he was on ignore. Greg then posted that was just curious and was asking a question and you once again made a negative statement regarding a post you didn't read. I dont follow all of the threads so I don't know what your beef is with Greg so your posts came across as childish and ultimatley robbed a lot of members and users of possible useful information.

Brandon--I wasn't referring to you as a backyard mechanic. My appologies if it came out that way. I was simply stating (not very clearly obviously) that there are a lot of people here that aren't very knowledgable posting and unless you know who they are it can be dangerous to use their info. It is hard to know who is respectable and who isn't, knowing a mechanic with 30+ years is posting here gives you the comfort of knowing you can likley trust his advice. I realize there are a lot of great mechanics and Part time hobbyists here that are very knowledgable buit I would still take the mechanics advice I knew to be respected over someone I knew little about.

I wrote that first thread when I was miffed so the wording wasn't ideal...didn't mean to insult anyone, just would like to see the bitching stop.

While its nice to receive advice to just about any simple question people really should try to use search function and read FAQ. Whats the point of search possibility etc if everyone who finds this place asks same old questions anyway? Mutual admiration society for 928 owners?

For the threads I linked, Greg was not even a member. Mike was a member for all 3 and a sponsor for at least the last one (not sure about the two block threads). Also, Greg threatened to take his ball and go home at one point (which I thought was a shame) because people were mean to him. Now he's back and actually posting more, but he is treating Mike the way he was treated before he left.

Now that you have background info, do you still feel the same way? It's just a little spat between two engine building pioneers. I don't see the point in starting a thread interjecting yourself into their dispute, especially when you haven't cared enough to do any background research.

I didn't find gregs question in Mikes thread insulting at all. Like I said, unless you follow every thread what happened in that one came across as very negative. If there is a beef it should be handled off forum.

Perhaps it's a way for someone to stop lurking and introduce himself to the group...
sometimes.the search doesn't produce what he needs...I can't count the number of times I've searched for a thread...(that I remembered covered my topic) only not to find it because I didn't have key words that were in the thread.....either that or one gets 4559 hits...and only one pertains the particular situation...and you know we all stay strictly on topic in every thread...so no mis-information there LOL

and...the new user faq is not organized at all...so you have to read the whole bloody thing..(which for me is fine..but for others.is way TMI)...and on and on..
