Default Windshield Washer Reservoir Question

I cleaned up my washer reservoir and fixed a leaking connection. One question:

There is about a 1/2" diameter cloth-wrapped hose, about 15" long that runs from the top of the reservoir. What does it connect to? The rubber drainage hose at the back of the passenger fender, or is it just there for reservoir overflow runoff and doesn't connect to anything?

Thanks in advance.

Perfect. I thought so, but wasn't sure. Thanks, Stan.
