Quinn-
Yes, that is the result of the mandrel bending process. My question(s) is simply whether or not you compared what I consider one of the more important features of the RMB. All I've seen is a discussion of the paint job and exhaust tip diameter- I do care about oxidation, and a bit about looks, but more about the flow characteristics. That is, what are the comparative bends?
As to "starting small and ending small", do you mean smallER than the rest of the exhaust, or just the same as that before the RMB?

Yes it stays the same size from what I see, 2-inch all the way back. So as far as flow characteristics go, all I can tell you is to look at the pictures I posted, and judge for yourself. Sorry if I am not more help, my brain is somewhat fried from school Finals… Anybody what to render their services and do my accounting homework?

Oops! Thank you Nicole for letting me know, I changed the option from private to public, so now you should be able to view the pictures.

The DEVEK item is inferior looking. I had the 928 Specialists RMB on my 91GT and it looked awesome. The only difference between the few out there is the look. Mandrel bent means nothing for an RMB.
Shoulda never sold the GT......

Quinn-
Thanks. For me that answers the Devek side of the question, still hoping to hear about the 928 Spec./928 Int. side.
I guess I don't make myself clear, but once again: My perspective: first, function is better than show (in general) second, going from large (even 'only' 2") pipe to smaller is bad. Even if smaller is not SMALLER, it creates turbulence. Third, mandrel bent bends are always better than pressure bent bends because of above, as I recall +-30% (and look better as well).
I have no opinion on the various RMBs because I have never seen one. That is why I asked about show versus go characteristics. In my opinion, mandrel bent does mean something on a RMB, just as sticking a potato(e) in the exhaust pipe has a consequence. If you want a polished SS megaphone, that's fine by me, I am just looking for comparative flow info.

I know what mandrel bening is. For an RMB, which is aprox. 10 inches long with ZERO restriction after the RMB, mandrel VS. pressure bending will mean nothing to a 928 owner. Now, having said that, if you have a complete mandrel bent exhaust system VS. a pressure bent exhaust system, there will be a difference in power. A mandrel bent RMB VS. a pressure bent one....no difference in flow, its only 10 inches.
After owning 2 928's, both with exhaust modifications, the RMB is for sound and looks. Yes, it may give you a couple of horsepower, but very few. I say go for the one that looks best to you. For me, that was 928 Specialists' RMB. I have seen DEVEK on a car next to my 928SP RMB and there is a large visual difference. Good Luck with whatever you choose.
Anyone wanna trade their 928GTS for my 996 coupe?

Hi John.
Rule #1-Never sell a 928GT
Rule #2-Only sell a 928GT to purchase a 5 speed GTS
Rule #3-Keep a 928 and only buy a "911" as a second Porsche.
Rule#4- Keep it simple, only remember rule #1

Like Jay, I've got the RMB from 928Intl, the pipes are good size and close together. I don't know what that mess is on the back of your car but disconnect it immidiately. please.

AMEN! Your advice is well taken LASTV8, now I just need to sell the Devek one, or ask if I can return it for credit or something. But yes I agree with you, and I will get "that mess" off ASAP. Now to go with the 928 Specialists 5 1/2 RMB or the regular twin pipes... Decisions decisions.

Quinn,
Sorry you do not like our product.
Our product was designed to be equal in flow to stock pipes with no "pressure bent" diameter reductions. Unfortunetely, we do not see how a "larger" tip or outlets will make your 928 perform better. Thanks for the "big Tip" input, we will add an option for larger tips in the future to address the need to for big tips.
In addiiton, our tips allow the use of stock outer exhaust sheilds similar to the GTS or GT and thus, protect the paint around the exhaust opening and provide the looks of "stock".
The coating is Jet Hot which carries a lifetime warranty provided it has not been abused. The product is coated inside and out.
BTW, when did you purchase the RMB as I cannot find your record in this years sales?
Please contact me directly to discuss the details of the return.

That last post from Marc at DEVEK is very indicative of their business practices. I had a personal experience with purchasing a harness system for my previous GT with DEVEK. At the time of order, which was a bit more than a week away from a DE event, DEVEK was out of stock. Not only did they assure me they coud get it to me in time, but delivered on that promise as well. I think DEVEK is a fantastic operation. I would not hesitate to do business with them. My previous post about their RMB was focused on visual apperance only. I prefer the 'look' of a different RMB. This preference is based on looks only and not the other products or services DEVEK provides.
Good luck all!

Kinda off-topic as far as "RMB" goes, but I really
do agree with John V.'s Rule(s) #2 and #3 below!!!
And John Murray's C2 would sure make a fine "2nd"
