Interior Trim Kits
I was snooping around e-bay and found some interior trim kits for 928's. here is one of the links:

My question is has anyone tried one of these or something similar? Just wondering how the quality or appearance turned out. My car is a full black interior and I was thinking something in the brushed aluminum might look good.

The kit is 928, although the final picture is of a 944, as Spencer points out. Jager Engineering offers a variety of 928 trim kits through Nicole's Hooked On Cars. Those kits look great and come in real or simulated wood and other materials. I don't recognize the eBay seller and it's hard to say how they will look or fit. They do appear to offer material samples at least.

I bought the full $115 kit from this same ebay seller around Christmas for the wife's 91 S4 and it is fantastic, non 928ers think its factory! I received it quick, as promised. Not as much of a selection of wood colors as the Jager trim options. Also not as many different available pieces either. I used Jager for my 85 & its great too. I had some problems with a couple of the pieces starting to delaminate with my Jager kit & Veronique replaced them asap. She's great to work with & even expidited some pieces last year just in time for SITM. Plus she's very nice & has a cool accent too! The ebay kit door handle piece even has a hole for the glow in the dark dot on your door handles to show thru, which the Jager ones don't. I'd buy from either again without hesitation.

Gbarron,
I'm a newbie (owner for about 8 months) and I've learned the hard way that it is MUCH better to buy from 928 Specialists, 928 Int'l, Nicole (Hooked on Cars) or Jager than off eBay. I've had nothing but problems from eBay vendors-- product didn't arrive, product didn't fit (a new "OEM" 928 emblem for the hood that didn't fit the gasket and whose studs didn't fit the holes in the hood without a lot of effort).
Hooked on Cars has a wood kit, and I suspect you will be much better off paying higher prices with Nicole than taking a risk with eBay. Just my $9.28 worth of advice, anyway. Good luck!

I have not seen this kit installed in a car. But from looking at the schematics I have a few comments:
- Almost all 928s are somewhat different. Our kits are custom made to fit your individual 928. You - with our help - pick the exact pieces that go with the optioins installed in your car.
- For example, some cars have passenger seat memory, and need a different part 2.
- Part 9 will cover the odometer reset button in the 89 models, and the warning system reset button in the 87 and 88 models.
- You get two clock surrounds, but no console surround. So you'll keep a big black rim of plastic around the shifter.
- It seems that all of their woods are synthetic. I rarely sell synthetic wood, unless a color is needed that is not available in authentic wood. You can tell the difference easily when looking at the material in the sunlight. Synthetic wood is totally flat, while authentic wood has depth and changes a bit with the direction of the light.
Here is a link to pictures of my car with a full Jager authentic wood kit (same link is in my signature):

Hi Jason:
We DO have interior trim offerings for OBs. However, there are some limitations as to what we can do, due to the shape of the older console inserts. I've had customers who upgraded their console inserts to the later models, and this way could take full advanatage of all our trim options. Typically, the newer console inserts can be had for about $50 used. I'm sure 928 International has a bunch of them sitting around...

ok, per request, here are three pics each of our two cars with the Jager & ebay kits. My 85 with the tan interior & Secamore Synthetic from Jager, & Pamela's S4 with the dark blue interior with the ebay synthetic. The ebay kits don't have as many different pieces available where you can mix & match like Jager. But if you can find a kit with all the pieces that you want, they give you alot for the money. I'd say comparing the pieces themselves, they are very similar in thickness, look of the quality, etc. If there is any difference, I could not tell. I knew it was a risk, but I figured as cheap as it was, it was worth trying it. We were both very pleasantly suprised. The pics of hers with the ebay trim I just took a few minutes ago with the car in the garage, so thats the best I could get. It actually looks better in person & seems to have a good fit. Both our cars have synthetics, which I'm sure don't look as good as real wood. Mine cause the Secamore was the best match to my cashmere interior; hers cause the ebay kits only come in synthetics.
My car with the Jager trim even had Roger saying at SITM that he was going to put his Jager trim kit on his GTS when he got back to Texas.
Oh yeah, I thought too after my last posts that I should of added that Nicole at Hooked on Cars has a really great accent too! She's first class all the way & a credit to our 928 community!

Our kits are a bit more than the $70 of the kit on ebay, but we can offer the authentic wood and carbon weave, pieces for any configuration of the 928, and my personal consultation.

Hi Jason:
Basically, what you need is the console insert piece that goes below the radio - the one that holds the clock.. The downside is that this piece has a rectangular cutout for the clock, so you can either
- switch to rectangular digital clock (the least desirable way)
- upgrade to rectangular Porsche clock (most expensive way)
- order the trim piece for Jager round clock conversion and modify the console trim piece to fit either your round clock or a Jager clock.
You might also need the H-Shaped trim piece that goes around the sides of the HVAC control panel. I'd have to take another look to be sure, but I think your old trim piece covers that area now, and you'll need to change that along with the lower piece.
Anyway, it's possibleto do for an older car, if desired - it just takes some extra effort to do it. I would not recommend adding wood to the early style console insert piece.
