Post Master Cylinder Help

Master cylinder leaks at the gasket between the plastic reservoir and the master cylinder. Is there a way to fix with out taking off the cylinder ?

Thanks

Richard

Absolutely!! get the new grommets (cheap rubber parts, available from MB outlets for sure, probably Audi, VW also) pull the reservoir (with rags handy, and may take a hefty pull), winkle the old rubbers out, making sure not to leave any debris behind, wet the new ones and insert them , push reservoir into place, and refill. I replaced mine without having to bleed the system.

The part number is 911 355 922 00 and they are about $2ea. You should be able to pick them up at any dealer or Porsche part supplier.

A couple of items -

Clean out the Res, once you have it out. Dawn Dish soap works well. Make it sure it's dry prior to installation.
Immediately wipe down any excess BF that spills.
Don't depress the brake pedal once the Res is out.
Have Fun, be careful and Good Luck getting that Res back in w/out removing the MC - It's a PIA.
Remember to bleed your system once it's all said and done.

Adios
