I want a 928???

Nicole,
I have offered the use of Pattycakes many times with one caeveat;
No Smoking, one burn and you die!
Sharon has only driven Pattycakes four times, she says it's to loud - this after I added the resonator for additional silencing -, and way to fast. The latter I suspect is because she is used to the Montero Slugmobile and she is, consequently, not used to pulling away from traffic or entering traffic patterns from a ramp and leading the pack.
I think the real problem, she has, is there is no cup holder.
Sharon does listen better than most people including males of the species, she can shoot (9mm) out to 80/90 yards with the best. She has a sense of touch that most ham fisted, lead-footed
drivers simply can't comprehend. Balance?
Point of fact, I put my good friend Rusty the vette' driver behind the wheel when those muffler maniacs installed the NASCAR EXHAUST so I could hear what it sounded like. Gave him a quick familiarization and off he went. After the run - way to loud- he informed me that the 928 accelerated and handled much like the vette' but slowed down of its own accord much faster.
The smell of burning brakepads, and a strange, radiating heat from the rear corners punctuated his last statement.
He had gone on a three mile loop and when he realized he had forgotten to release the handbrake whose location I had specifically pointed out. He was instantly mortified. Rotors were ok but I went ahead and bought new pads.
I do notice that after Sharon drives the 928 she leans, physically, into conversations with people,
and seems to be almost as aggresive - damn near dismissive - when dealing with her co-workers as she was dealing with nitwits during our last decade in the ARMY. For better or worse her opprotunity to drive the Porsche is always there.

Letting my wife drive the 928 (if I were to...*cough*...*cough*...accidentally purchase one) is a good idea but only in theory. She knows nothing of Porsches and cares even less. No matter how much I coach her, when people ask what kind of Porsche I have she says "Um...it's gray". I probably could just replace the 951 with a 928 in the same color and she'd never even notice...
heeyyyyy...waitaminit...

And then there is me.
I already have my '56 356A, and my wif buys me our '87 928 ( sound of jaw hitting floor!!! )
John S. has seen the car, at SitO, and Jay W. and wife have met my wif and car at SitM.
NO! She will NOT let me buy that 959 that was on ebay!
Absolutely she can drive the car! Please, go have some fun! First time out, showing it off to a co-worker, it has a problem with a relay, and won't start.....Until a little over a half hour later! Replaced the relay, once it was found. Second time out, she finds a curb stop with the front spoiler Fortunately, a slow almost stopped hit, no damage (WHEW!!!)
She doesn't drive it much at all now, some relief to me. It isn't a standard type of knock-around car, so she just happily drives her Concord, no problem here! I do try to take her out on drives, and switch driving with her, but she isn't much interested.
And she still tells me to keep it well fixed! Yes, she has two sisters, but both of them are hitched already!!!!

I think I am coming down with the reverse bug. I have a 928 and for some sick reason find myself wanting a 951. Problem is the wife won't let me have both and I just can't bring myself to part with the 928.
I hope someone can invent a cure for this virus because it appears to be contagious.

Kwaz,
I got the same problem. Sort of. I wanna N/A 944 to get started into racing with. NASA runs a newly started Spec 944 series here on the East Coast as well as the West Coast. I can also use it for SCCA IT class racing too. Car prep and maint costs [about 5k including car] appear to be much cheaper than a 928 and the rules are written so that the drivers make the differerence and not the dollars. Will move up to the 928 racer later...

Normy-
'Look for it in the parking lot' LOL -That only works if it were levitating at ten feet with a few strobes attached.
Just got back, I was there Monday night through today-sorry I missed your car. Good crowd though. Today they said Tuesday's count was 25,000.
Buying anything? I've decided on a Piaggio P180. Or maybe a cupholder

I'll take one of each at that show! My boss at my last company had a Piaggio Avanti...one of three in the country at that time. As to the show, it was awesome! I got invited to the Cessna party too and wound up in the parking lot showing off the shark...

And if you are really demented.
Car and Driver, October Issue has a firmed up rumor that the 911 series is going to get the new 4.5L V8 out of the SUV. Ther's more...
Instead of the previous rumors' mid-engine mount plan...the new rumor has it sitting longitudinal
in the existing rear mount area. for us.
for the 911 crowd.
