I believe the flat-dish wheels first appeared on the 82 Weissach Edition 928s, but they were all painted gold. They became standard equipment everywhere in 1983.

Claimchaser,
I agree with Ed on the 82 Weissach model year wheels with the exception they are anodized.
That's good and bad news for me. They are unique, but the PO hacked the surface on two of them probably trying to remove the lock lugs with a breaker bar and weak socket instead of an impact socket and wrench (no key?) Check with Porsche 928 International they had mounds of wheel sets in the warehouse when I was out there in May.
Items of interest: 1. There are several postings on polished/chrome wheels on several sites. And there was a specific WARNING from Porshe concerning same.
Though 928 still, apparently offers the polish/chrome option. Check the sites and pages for more info on this.
2. If you are planning on upgrading to S-4 brakes any time soon you will probably have to swap again to 17's and or offset plates.
I like the old phone dials, if you have the room and aren't going to sell them off save em' as a spare set. If not 928 international will, I think, give you some kind of trade in exchange for them.
enjoy, later

The 1980 and 81 Competiton Packaged cars (with chin spoiler, rear deck spoiler, sport seats and, 16 inch wheels) came with flat dish wheels.
