I'm glad you discovered the fun part. It's sometimes hidden under the skinny pedal. So, romping at 130 get your heartrate up? Or was it the same as 70 in the Saturn? I read your comment about this not being a fun around-town car; It takes a little bit of getting used to the 100+ steering at 5 MPH in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot I guess... I still drive it when I have the chance. Sometimes I go to the post office over in Pasadena instead of the local one just to exercise the kinks out of the right leg. Call it therapy!
Once you hook up with the DFW group, you'll realize that there's a lot mor to owning one of these than just the driving. I haven't met most of them in person but can tell that there's a lot of spirit and enthusiasm there. Plus, you get to work the kinks out of the right leg getting over there.

Daymon!!!.... I don't know if you read my comments in your last thread or not but now I suppose it doesn't matter! It's funny, because it's like I get to relive the elation I feel when I buy my cars just by knowing that you have now got that passion too. Dude, from my heart: Welcome. I'm so glad you are seeing the beauty of this car that everyone including Porsche themselves gave up on years ago so unjustly.

If we are worth our weight in dirt you will never be alone when there is something that needs doing on your car. I pick a lot of fights here for my own humor but I'll go out on a limb and say that just about everyone here would help me if I really needed it. We are all behind you! -Ryan

Daymon, thats good to hear. I will tell you first hand, that once you come up to meet all of us, you will understand more about the passion and spirit of these cars, just by chatting with the DFW group, ALOT of great people up here. I probally wouldnt still own this car if it wasnt for this (DFW) group and Rennlist. Besides everybody knows we do it bigger and better in Texas!

When I got my 928 I considered selling it. Bought it because it was cheap enough to take the gamble and someone once told me if was the best car he ever had (owner of Ferraris, Astons, etc.). Took me about two months to decide to keep it. And then took it to the track and couldn't believe how overlooked this car really is. It might not be the best at any one thing, but it is very good at almost everything.
The person I reference in the beginning said it was the greatest car but very expensive to maintain. Bought it new and said it cost $1,000 every time he went to the dealer. $1,000 20+ years ago was a lot when an oil change was probably $10. In my opinion, Porsche really f'ed up not taking better care of their customers. People willing to pay $50K for a car when an ave. car was probably $6,000 would probably be willing to pay $10,000 every couple of years for service (one-time) then get nickeled and dimed for $1,000 every couple of months.
