Post Hot Wheels 928

Today I received a Hot Wheels Porsche 928 from a co-worker. This is from the 2002 Final Run Edition. The 928 appears to be an early euro. She bought it at the local WalMart. Actually she wasn't looking for a 928. She just grabbed the first Porsche she saw. How's that for luck?

Jay,

The funny thing is that I have looked for a 928 model car all over NE Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Then a co-worker randomly picks one up at WalMart. Now who's lucky? 8^)

BTW, Sharon happened to get some "OLD" rolls of film developed this week and guess what was on one of them? Yep SITO. A few good ones of 6 Sharks under the awning at the cresent. A great one of John but I can't quite figure out what he is doing. One of me presenting something to Mark. If interested, I'll scan them for you.

That MB Final Run is already on eBay selling for as much as $10.00, plus shipping. Buy 'em all.

If you are looking for more 928 models, check out eBay models. I was suprised how many 928 models exist.

I've purchased several over the months.

Also, Nicole has the Herpa models, which are really cool.

Thanks. i'll raid the local WalMart tomorrow. Maybe I can make enough money to make up for the losses in the stock market.

If you want a decent 928 model, I happen to have an extra one of these. I guess $10 and I pay for the shipping.

Hi Dennis:

I have a few models of the pre-S4 style 928. Check Christmas shopping for the 928 lover for more details. Scroll down to the second message, to link to pictures of many of these models.

I do have HotWheels 928 models in green metallic with a wild decor on the side. These are not the final run, but some earlier type. I ask $3.00 for those.

I'm almost out of the cool 928 erasers, and won't get them for a while. I do have very few left (red, black, or teal).

Let me know, if there is anything I can do for you!

Jerry and Nicole,

Thanks for the offer. All I need now is an early silber metallic 928 and a guards red or platin 931 and my collection will be complete.

Nicole you have quite a collection. Did you collect them commercially or as a hobby?

I'm fortunate enough or should I say unfortunate (traffic) enough to have a SUPER WALMART down the street. AS soon as I heard of the HW 928 at Walmart, I gave them a Call - No Luck. today I'm going to speak to the Dept Mngr who handles inventroty control - Let's see what we can put together. Thanks for the insight at Walmart.

99 Cents is the normal price for a single HW - If I score big, I'm going to buy them all up.

Drew,

Checked out the local WalMart Super store today and they had a lot of empty slots and no 928's. Appears a lot of little grub snatchers will be getting my nest egg for stocking stuffers.

Happy Holidays to all.

Hi Dennis:

I collect 928-Stuff as a hobby. I have a closet full of 928 stuff, most of it from Germany. For example, I have the prestige brochures and color charts for every model year in the US version, and most model years in German. Plus, most tests of the 928 in the reputable German car magazines. The 928 project book. And 928 models galore...

This came about, because one of my best friends is into the Porsche 356. Many years ago I realized how hard it was for him to find things related to that Porsche model. I figured that some day it will be next to impossible to find 928-related stuff, so I started collecting while things are still more available - at least in Europe.

As I am searching for stuff, I sometimes come accross collections with models that I already have, old stock, or just plain people who give up their collections and sell the models individually. Since I already put all this time in for searching anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to make these items available to other 928 owners who don't have the same connections.

The Herpa models are harder to come by these days, and most items have become more expensive since the change to the Euro currency. The value - in my opinion - depends largely on three factors: condition, rarity, and desirability. No, I don't do this for a living. By the time the postage is paid there is not much of a margin left. Let's put it that way: It buys me a sandwich every now and then, and gets me in touch with nice people who share the passion 928.

Silver 928s as a 1:43 model were made by Solido in France at one point, and Herpa made them as 1:87 scale models. It seems like the color is either rare, or so popular right now, that they are hard to come by. I don't have a silver 928 for sale right now, but will kekep my eyes peeled.

Have a wonderful Christmas time!

Nicole, won't you email me? There is no email contact at the top of your post. I'm looking for a part for my '56 356A, and wonder if your friend might have or know of where one is.....

I managed to get all of mine (the green ones) in one lucky day at the Target near my office. The pic shows nine, but i have a tenth that out of the wrapper. The gold one is the first one i ever got in 2001 at the Hershey Swap meet for the kingly price of 3 bucks. Was there ever a Hot Wheels 944? I have never seen one.

John:

I have not seen a Hotwheels 944 either, but I have a pearl white one from Matchbox in my collection. This was some kind of a special edition with additional detailing...

Brett:

I'll email you. My email is nicole@mossinger.com . You can also send me private messages - even though I admit they are a pain to work with...
