Thumbs up 9710 Rev Limit LH fitted

Hi All

Just fitted the new LH chip from John Speake (thanks John) which has the 9710 limit...

Took the revs up slowly 1000 revs at a time until 6375 (where limit was previously) then in 200 rev chunks until I hit 7200 ,where I could just about hear the valves starting to float and held it there for around 10 seconds then shut it down and all fine

I "think" it would probably run at higher revs than 7200 for a "short period" but wont risk it until my actual 200 mph plus runs.....lol

I dont think I will need to anyway as 7200 equates to around 235 mph

But you never know.........

All the best Brett

Years ago I had an engine blow up, in the dark at 120mph, it was spectacular!

Brett,
What do you hear when you "float the valves"? Is it the lifters banging on the cam? I sure hope it is not the valves hitting the pistons. You also feel a loss of power I assume.

Hi

Thats a good question, and I am not sure I can honestly answer it...but will try.

Its a matter of engine experience really, as an ex Top Fuel crew chief ,I have built a lot of engines with huge amounts of HP and tested them to destruction sometimes lol

In this case, as I got to 7200 ...I "felt" the engine going off slightly, like a slight "fluttering"

I think I probably could have gone another 200 or even 400 revs more before it started missing badly but didn't want to risk it at this stage...

One thing though, I seriously doubt our engines will ever hit 8000, or if they do...they will last seconds....max....again I have no proof of this, its just a feeling.

I don't advise anyone to try it though

All the best Brett

get a custom head made so that the car has desmodromic valves (opened and closed by the cam) and you can go as high as you want in RPM. 12000RPM ducatis use this.

Hi

No thanks, this is my daily driver that I hope to get to well over 200 mph and become the fastest Porsche in the UK.

So I am keeping the engine and tranny standard as much as possible and am using the 1000 hp of Nitrous to achieve my aim

I have used strokers and blowers for years and could have gone that way but this time its Nitrous and when I turn it off, my 928 is standard...ish

And off I drive to work the next morning

All the best Brett

Hi

Thank you

Its a lot to do with my military past, as a guy who turned green once said..."You wont like me if I get angry" , lol

But I have not killed anyone for years now

And hope never to again, so I am generally a happy person

And the insults usually come from people who have not the faintest idea what they are talking about which helps

All the best Brett

Sweet. Any timeline on when everything is going to be ready for the super-run?
